Patnocchio

Original air date: 8/8/2018

In this parody of Pinocchio, Plankton pretends to be Patrick's conscience in an attempt to convince the sea star to steal a Krabby Patty.

"Patnocchio" provides examples of:

  • Air Guitar: Patrick, Plankton, and Geppetto do this at certain points in the episode.
  • Continuity Nod: Goofy Goober's appears for the first time since the first movie.
  • The Conscience: Plankton pretends to be this for Patrick as part of his plan to steal a Krabby Patty.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Patrick and Plankton.
  • Dope Slap: Plankton does this to Patrick.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: The waiter at Goofy Goober's gets these right before he kicks out Patrick and Plankton.
  • Idea Bulb: Plankton gets one and so does Patrick. When Patrick's burns out, Plankton changes it with his.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": When Patrick and Plankton cover a Goofy Goober's employee with ice cream, all the children simultaneously say “Uh-oh…”. Subverted when said employee is just as excited about their fight as everyone else. Double subverted when the violence causes too much destruction. The children say “Uh-oh…” once more, and this time it’s warranted.
  • Pinocchio Nose: Plankton gets one when he tells a lie. Patrick decides he wants one so he lies too. Eventually, the two have a sword fight with them.
  • Product Placement: Parodied when Karen gives Pearl Gush 'N Flush.
  • Real After All: Patrick's conscience.
  • Running Gag:
    • Someone singing rock music and playing Air Guitar.
    • Someone's nose growing when they tell a lie.
  • Shout-Out: Karen's singing causing a scallop to explode is a reference to Shrek.
  • Storybook Opening: Done in this episode as part of the fairytale theme.
  • Swallowed Whole: Patrick and Plankton get swallowed by Pearl.
  • The End: Karen the Computer Fairy closes a book that reads "The End" to end the episode.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To Pinocchio.

ChefBob

Original air date: 8/9/2018

When Mr. Krabs turns the Krusty Krab kitchen into an open kitchen, a stage fright-stricken SpongeBob invents a new persona, a puppet named ChefBob, that becomes a hit from insulting the Krusty Krab customers and staff.

"ChefBob" provides examples of:

  • An Aesop: Be Yourself, which is said by Mr. Krabs, along with don't hide behind a puppet.
  • Berserk Button: SpongeBob finally stands up to ChefBob after he horribly insults Squidward.
  • Big "SHUT UP!":
Mr. Krabs: Break a leg! Break two legs!
    Fred: MY LEG!
    Mr. Krabs: Shut up, Fred!
  • Bottle Episode: The majority of the episode is set inside the Krusty Krab.
  • Continuity Nod: This is the second time SpongeBob develops Performance Anxiety after "Oral Report".
  • Demonic Dummy: ChefBob becomes this when he starts heckling SpongeBob and his friends.
  • Extreme Doormat: SpongeBob acts like one to ChefBob despite the latter being a puppet.
  • Faint in Shock: SpongeBob, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs do this when they see that ChefBob has his own show.
  • Hand Puppet: ChefBob. Squidward and Mr. Krabs use hand puppets of themselves to "fire" ChefBob.
  • Insult Comic: ChefBob becomes this, much to SpongeBob's displeasure.
  • Karma Houdini: Played with. At first, ChefBob gets his comeuppance through a beatdown by SpongeBob and getting fired by Mr. Krabs, and taken up to eleven by getting run over by a steamroller. However, this gets double subverted when ChefBob ends up getting his own successful cooking/insult comedy television show, which leaves the Krusty Krew utterly horrified.
  • Money Slap: When ChefBob requests bigger accommodations from Mr. Krabs, he refuses to grant them, causing ChefBob to pull out a wad of $100 bills and slap Mr. Krabs across the face with them.
ChefBob: What's the matter, Krabs? (flicks Mr. Krabs' nose) Ya' don't like money?! (slaps Mr. Krabs with wad of cash)
Mr. Krabs: (on the verge of tears) What? ...Of course I like money!
  • One-Episode Fear: SpongeBob has never been afraid to cook for a crowd before, like how he did in "As Seen on TV".
  • Performance Anxiety: SpongeBob gets this when he forced to cook in front of everyone, leading him to create ChefBob.
  • Reflective Eyes: When ChefBob tries to pin SpongeBob with his spatula, SpongeBob is reflected in ChefBob's eyes.
  • Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue...: ChefBob recites his own version of this at two points in the episode.
ChefBob: Roses are red, violets are blue, I was born pretty, what happened to you?
  • Series Continuity Error: SpongeBob gets stage fright but in other episodes ("Squirrel Jokes" for example), he performs onstage with no problem.
  • Shameful Shrinking: Squidward does this after ChefBob humiliates him in front of everyone. Squidward eventually grows back after SpongeBob calls him "one of my best friends" while calling out ChefBob for it.
    Squidward: That's even more insulting
  • Single Tear: After ChefBob insults a customer at his request, the customer laughs in amusement and cries a single tear while smiling, hinting that his feelings were probably hurt.
  • The End: The episode ends with curtains that read "THE END" closing over the screen.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Squidward insulting one of the customers is what causes ChefBob to become self-aware and insult everyone for comedy, which SpongeBob doesn't find fun.
