Go To

It's time for another Secret Library mission, and the story Sofia has to complete is "The Tale of the Noble Knight". In the kingdom of Brazendell, the dragons who were once seen as good creatures are starting fires all over for reasons unknown, and there are two knights going after a shield to fix the mess.

Tropes

  • An Aesop: There's a difference between being a real hero and looking like one.
  • Cuddle Bug: The dragons, especially Willawing, are revealed to be kind and loving.
  • Cuteness Proximity: The minute Sofia meets the dragons of Brazendell, Willawing thinks Sofia is so cute that she cannot resist picking her up and hugging her.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Sir Jaxon's appearance makes him appear to be a bad knight, and his trap was very elaborate. But he turns out to be the titular noble knight.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: During Sir Oliver and Sir Jaxon's duel in the tower:
Sir Oliver: This knight must be stopped from trying to stop me from stopping the dragons!
  • Did I Say That Out Loud: Sir Oliver says this word for word after accidentally confirming that he made the dragons set fires to the kingdom in the first place.
  • Dragons Versus Knights: While investigating the sudden aggressiveness of the dragons of Brazendell, Sofia meets Sir Oliver, an arrogant knight who seeks to find a magical artifact and use it to drive off the dragons. It's eventually revealed that Sir Oliver intentionally provoked the dragons into breathing fire so he could drive them off and look like a hero. Sir Jaxon, a knight who is friends with the dragons, helps Sofia to expose the truth.
  • The Exile: When Sir Oliver is revealed to be the one who provoked the dragons to start fires in the first place, he is banished from Brazendell.
  • Moral Myopia: Sir Oliver sees himself as great, yet he intentionally goaded the dragons to start fires by attacking them as a scheme to drive them away and look like a big hero and be declared "First Knight". Even when the king of Brazendell banishes Oliver from the kingdom, the latter refuses to acknowledge that he did anything wrong, calling his banishment "an outrage".
  • Narcissist: Not only can Sir Oliver barely go five seconds without boasting about how great he is, but when he sees his reflection, he just has to admire himself.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Thanks to Sofia having helped him due to not knowing that he was responsible for goading the dragons into starting fires, Sir Oliver got his hands on the Ice Fire Shield. If not for Sofia and Sir Jaxon's quick thinking, Oliver would've succeeded in driving the dragons away.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Sure, Sofia had no idea that Sir Oliver was the reason the dragons were setting fires at first, but if she hadn't helped him, he wouldn't have gotten his hands on the Ice Fire Shield.
  • The Scapegoat: Sir Oliver plotted to make the dragons of Brazendell start fires by attacking them, so he could look like a hero by driving them away.
