Recap / Sofia The First S 2 E 10 Sofia The Second

Go To

Today is the Highland Hootenanny in the village, but Sofia's plans change when she learns that the Duke of Ramblingham and his daughter, Lady Joy, are coming a day early. After seeing Cedric try to use his new copying spell on Wormwood, she uses the spell on herself, so she can go to the village dance while her copy plays with Joy. But because Sofia misfired the spell, the copy turns out to be a troublemaker.

Tropes

  • An Aesop: When you make a promise, you're the one who has to keep it, not someone else.
  • Evil Twin: Sofia accidentally creates one of her own when she misfires the copying spell.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: This hits Sofia when she realizes that she misfired the copying spell and created an evil version of herself.
  • Princesses Prefer Pink: Subverted—the copy's dress turned out pink because it's a sign that the spell was misfired.
  • Suspiciously Apropos Music: The hootenanny's song "Keeping Promises No Matter What" matches up to Sofia's situation in the episode word-per-word, and the hearing of it causes her to regret breaking her promise to her father.
  • Title Drop: Almost word per word by Bad Sofia: "You can call me Sofia the Worst."
