Catra orders Scorpia to find Entrapta's recordings so Hordak can perfect his experimental technology. Flutterina sows dissent in the squad.

Tropes

  • Apple of Discord: Double Trouble spends the episode escalating the already present tension in Adora and Glimmer's relationship further such as having Flutterina "helpfully" point out how Adora saved Glimmer from a Horde soldier (which Glimmer was already upset about before hand). When it looks as if Bow has managed to undo all of their work they pretend to be captured in order to get Adora and Glimmer at each others throats.
  • Armor-Piercing Response:
    • A non-verbal one, when Scorpia tries to convince Emily to come with her to Catra, promising that Catra would never hurt her. Emily plays the video of Catra knocking out Entrapta, sending her to Beast Island, and threatening Scorpia when she protests it; this makes Scorpia realize that she couldn't defend Catra's actions anymore, and that she needs to go find Entrapta.
    • Scorpia's answer to Catra on why she's "useless"?
      Scorpia: You're a bad friend.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": The guards who "capture" Flutterina do a very terrible job trying to play along with the ruse. Double Trouble can barely contain their disgust with how terrible their acting is.
  • Casual Danger Dialog: Glimmer and Adora discuss their conflicts and feelings while in the middle of a battle.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Glimmer threatens to inflict this on a Force soldier claiming that her Truth Spell with either force him to tell the truth or hurt a great deal. Adora in particular is horrified
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses primarily on Scorpia.
  • Death Faked for You: Scorpia claims to have destroyed Emily to get to Entrapta's recordings, which she also claims to have destroyed in the process. Emily is just fine, as Scorpia doesn't have the heart to destroy the last thing she has belonging to Entrapta just to get something for Catra that she won't appreciate.
  • Eating Machine: Scorpia tries to "feed" Emily scrap metal, as she hasn't figured out whether or not this applies to the robot yet.
  • Hand Wave: Scorpia originally claimed that her family sheltered the Horde willingly, but a later episode showed a glimpse of the Horde subjugating other scorpion-people and the Black Garnet. Here it seems both happened: if Scorpia can be trusted, her grandpa really did embrace the Horde, but other members of the family weren’t so welcoming. And in the end, well... Scorpia’s implied to be another orphan trained up by the Horde, just like Adora.
  • Happier Home Movie: Scorpia finds a recording from their trip to the north, and realizes how much she misses Entrapta.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: Everybody has limitations and Scorpia has reached hers due to Catra's selfishness. Every dream has a price and not everyone will be willing to pay it.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Glimmer threatens a Horde soldier she captures by summoning a truth spell and telling him that, if done incorrectly, it could be quite painful. While she tells Adora and Bow she never had any intention of actually hurting him it puts strain back on their relationship just as Double Trouble planned.
  • Offhand Backhand: As Adora and Glimmer argue in the middle of battle, they barely spare any attention to the soldiers they're fighting, hitting/blasting some of them without even sparing them a glance.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Scorpia's quiet and damning Armor-Piercing Response, compared to her typical friendly demeanor, is not lost on Catra. Sadly...
  • Psychotic Smirk: Several. While they're mainly from Double Trouble, Hordak makes an evil-looking smile after telling Catra she can "give the command".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: At the end of the episode, Scorpia abandons the Horde to find Entrapta.
  • Secret Test of Character: Scorpia gives Catra one more chance to prove she values their friendship. Catra's subsequent "The Reason You Suck" Speech proves the final thing that pushes Scorpia into her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Stock Scream: When Scorpia walks into the chaos at the start of her day, one of the Horde soldiers lets out a Wilhelm scream.
  • Traitor Shot: After they manipulate Glimmer, and while pretending to be on her side as a girl named Flutterina, Double Trouble makes a Psychotic Smirk when no other characters are looking.
  • Verbal Backspace: Scorpia knows a great place to hide, er, think.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Catra gives a villainous example to Hordak when she fails to bring him Entrapta's notes (convinced that Scorpia destroyed them by accident), citing how much he had accomplished without Entrapta's help.

You're a bad friend.

Scorpia, who would ordinarily willfully ignore any of the red flags that Catra displays on the regular, finally decides she's had enough when Catra lashes out at her.

How well does it match the trope?
