In the sixth season opener, J.D. deals with the news that he's going to be a father, Dr. Cox worries about how his anger is going to affect his offspring, and The Janitor wonders whether his personal vendetta against J.D. is a waste of time. Also, Elliot decides she too wants children.

  • An Aesop: We get three.
    • JD: Stand up and face your problems head on.
    • Cox: Control your anger, especially around your son.
    • Janitor: Stop trying to chase that damn JD and live your life. Know what? Nah. I'm gonna keep messing with him.
  • Blatant Lies:
    • When Kim asks JD is okay after learning he got her pregnant, he claims he's fine when he's screaming on the inside.
    • Kim is crying in surgery, and claims it's the song, because her brother was killed by a funky cold medina.
  • Brick Joke: Turk got N'SYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" as his new ring tone, and he's too busy dancing to it to actually answers it. When JD later gets arrested, he's still dancing to it until he realizes it's from the police department.
  • The Cameo: Blue Man Group makes an appearance during the prologue.
  • Corpsing: In-Universe, Carla, Turk, and Elliot all have trouble keeping a straight face as JD tells them he got Kim pregnant despite never having had sex.
  • Immediate Sequel: This episode opens immediately after the last one closed, with Kim having just told JD she's pregnant.
  • Not So Above It All: At first, Dr. Kelso screams at his staff for dancing to Turk's ringtone, but one scene cut later he joins in, admitting that it is catchy.
  • Pretentious Pronunciation: Dr. Beardface begins insisting "It's pronounced BeardfaSAY, dammit!"
  • Soda-Candy 'Splosion: This occurs with Pop Rocks and soda. Keith and Ted mix them together to see what will happen, creating a mess that the Janitor clearly isn't happy about having to clean up.
  • Viva Las Vegas!: JD drunkenly attends a gay bachelor party. When he passes out, the queens all drive him to Vegas to get an Elvis same-sex wedding against his will. JD hides in a building, which happens to be the theater where the Blue Man Group is performing, where he gets sprayed with paint and glitter.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Perry's response to Jack throwing spaghetti at him is to dump a platefull on his face after tucking him into bed. Jordan rightfully tells him to go to hell.
