While on the way to a barn dance, the gang stumbles on a beaten bank guard who gives them a blank page and a few strange words. Soon the bank-robbing Creeper turns up demanding the paper, forcing the gang to solve the mystery.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- All Animals Are Dogs: Justified with the chick, as it imprinted on a dog (Scooby) and thinks he’s its parent.
- Big Ball of Violence: Two examples.
- After Velma, Fred, and Daphne jump on Scooby and Shaggy (mistaking them for the Creeper), the resulting punch-up is obscured by a dust cloud.
- The climactic chase ends with a Big Hay-Pile of Violence, courtesy of Shaggy, Velma, Fred, Daphne, and the Creeper.
- Cast as a Mask: The Creeper is voiced by John Stephenson, but his real identity, Mr. Carswell, is voiced by Casey Kasem.
- Crisis Catch And Carry: Scooby and Shaggy race away upon seeing the Creeper. However, Scooby then returns to pick up the chick that's been following them around.
- Danger Takes a Backseat: Inverted; the gang finds the Creeper in the driver's seat of the Mystery Machine.
- Friendly Fire: Using a hay baling machine, Scooby traps the Creeper in a hay bale, with Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma getting trapped as a concession.Fred: Nice work, Scooby! You caught the Creeper!
Shaggy: Now bail us out of these hay bales! - He Knows Too Much: Mr. Carswell (as the Creeper) attacked a security guard for gathering evidence of what he was up to. He goes after the Scooby gang after finding out that they have a piece of said evidence.
- Here We Go Again!: As Shaggy says at the end of the episode, Scooby becomes a mother hen all over again.
- Imprinting: Scooby has a baby chick mistake him for its mother. When he returns it, a whole nest of eggs hatch, and all of them imprint on Scooby.
- Incorrect Animal Noise: Played for Laughs when Scooby tries to explain to the chick that he's not its mother.Scooby: (points to the chick) You. (makes a chicken's clucking, then points to himself) Me. (barks)

Shaggy: Oh, great. Now he thinks he's a dog. - Keep Away: Fred and Shaggy make a paper airplane out of the main clue and sail it to each other to keep it out of the Creeper's hands when cornered.
- Morally Bankrupt Banker: Mr. Carswell turns out to be one, as he is embezzling his own bank and trying to destroy any evidence of it.
- One-Word Vocabulary: The Creeper only says "Paper!" over and over, as he wants the paper given to the gang by the bank guard as it reveals his true identity.
- Rake Take: During the musical chase scene, Shaggy accidentally steps on a rake and gets smacked by it. Then the Creeper has the exact same thing happen to him, with the very same rake.
- Red Herring: At first, it seems like the crazy old hermit the gang encounters could be the Creeper. Turns out he had nothing to do with it.
- Rewatch Bonus: Initially, Mr. Carswell seems decent, asking for any clues about what happened to the guard and promising to take care of him while the gang goes to their dance. After it's revealed that he's the Creeper, it's clear he only wanted to cover his tracks.
- Tempting Fate: After getting thrown off a cliff following a wild wagon ride, Shaggy expresses relief that at least they lost the Creeper. Guess who turns up immediately afterwards?
- You Meddling Kids: Mr. Carswell is the second villain in Scooby-Doo history to call the gang this when he mutters "Blasted meddling kids" as he's being apprehended.
- You Wouldn't Hit a Guy with Glasses: Yes, the Creeper would. Unfortunately for him, Velma kicks him in the shin for taking her glasses to do it.
