Recap / Schitts Creek S 35 Roomsbythe Hour

Go To

Johnny starts renting out rooms by the hour and inadvertently does business with an accountant's conference that needs the rooms for sex. Moira auditions for a B-list horror movie. In an effort to drive up viewership to the animal hospital's website, Alexis and Ted set up a bunny cam.

Tropes:

  • High-Class Call Girl: The Madame who rents out the rooms by the hour insists she runs a high-class operation, and she assumes Johnny knows exactly what she's up to.
  • Idiot Ball: Business Mogul Johnny Rose doesn't clue in to what kind of business would need motel rooms by the hour as a breakout space for the accounting conference.
  • Instant Humiliation Just Add Youtube: Averted. Ted is initially mortified about being naked on the bunny cam, mostly because he doesn't want to exploit his hotness for publicity, but when it wins him a bevy of new clients he gets used to it.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Dr. Miguel will make an appearance in Season 4.
    • In Season 5, Moira will take a part in The Crows Have Eyes III: The Crowening, presumably because she got a better offer for the third film in the trilogy.
    • This is the first instance of Alexis showing a talent for marketing. She sells Ted on the idea of a bunny-cam, then on the idea of him basically stripping on camera.
  • Hospital Hottie: Exploited. Ted is at first reluctant to use sex appeal, but when he inadvertently strips in front of the bunny cam, it gets him more customers, and he warms up to the idea.
  • Latin Lover: Dr. Miguel advertises his practice with a photo of himself, shirtless with an armful of puppies and the caption: Animal, Lover. He says it is a typo, but Ted assumes otherwise.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Ted accidentally gives his clients a Strip Tease with his post-workout cooldown in front of the bunny cam. Then he leans into it.
  • Stylistic Suck: The Crows Have Eyes II is very obviously supposed to be a subpar horror movie. David lambasts the poor script, dialogue, and direction.
