Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers Into The Dark Web

Go To

Mario, SMG4 and friends go to the dark web to retrieve SMG4's USB. WILL THERE BE L O R E? Probably!

The mystery of the SMGs still lingers over SMG4’s head, and he must find the Guardian Pod of SMG1 and 2 for answers. Still having no idea where it might be, he, Mario, Bob, Axol and Melony set out on an expedition into the Dark Web in search of his own Guardian Pod in the hopes it might have answers on where to find the other pod.

  • Adaptational Badass: While it stays docile until SMG4 and Axol look away, SCP 173 continues to attack SMG4 even while Axol and Melony look at it. Zigzagged in that it isn't as fast as in, however, as it has to chase SMG4 around. This also means Axol has to distract Melony, as Axol believes it could traumatize her and bring down the VPN.
  • Care-Bear Stare: Axol demonstrates a new power to turn Melony and himself into Little Chonk versions of themselves so their concentrated wholesomeness can overpower the dark web.
  • Escort Mission: Axol joins the group when Melony is required, since Melony's "toddler mentality" makes her easily susceptible to the Dark Web's... not safe for work content. There's even a sequence where she needs to be protected from rogue websites trying to expose her to Nightmare Fuel.
  • Heroic BSoD: Melony's young mentality makes her suspect to be easily traumatized by exposure to the Dark Web's content. Sure enough, she gets traumatized thanks to Bob abandoning ship at a critical moment, and it nearly gets them all killed.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: Three times, twice during the reveal where it is Played for Drama.
    • The intro is a crude hand drawn animation by SMG4 in universe.
    • The Guardian Pod arriving to the world is shown as three real life USB sticks being inserted into a computer.
    • When the pods are shown falling to the world, the shot is rendered in pixel graphics.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Axol can turn himself and Melony into Little Chonk versions of themselves now. Sure.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Between jumping ship and letting Melony get scared of a bloody Teletubby to follow Butter Birdo, and not paying for an extension to the Anti-virus on SMG3's pod, Bob had basically screwed the entire world over on this one.
  • Skewed Priorities: Bob abandons the group just to follow Butter Birdo, his favorite streamer. It doesn’t end well for him.
  • Take That!: The file library scene throws THREE of them. One at Internet Explorer in the form of a buffering Slowpoke, referencing how Internet Explorer pages take FOREVER to load, one at Twitter, referencing the toxicity and aggressiveness of the users in how no matter what you say, you WILL get attacked, and one at Windows, referencing the constant updates.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Bob, not realizing that the pod he found was the one containing SMG0 rather than SMG4's refuses to pay to extend the anti-virus, unleashing Zero once again.
  • Wham Episode: More information about the SMGs is revealed. First of all, it is confirmed that SMG3 was always meant to go into the Internet Graveyard, but his pod was hit by SMG0's power and landed in the Mushroom Kingdom instead. SMG1 and 2's pod location is revealed to be in Brazil. Meanwhile, SMG3's antivirus protection finally expires and an eye monster much like the one that plagued SMG4 comes out and tails Bob from behind.
