Go To

The fifteenth episode of the second season of Rugrats (2021).

The Climb

Susie entertains her friends with the story of Jackie, who climbs a magic beanstalk and meets a cranky, sleep deprived giant.

Wolf at the Door

Susie the House-Finder shows baker Chuckie some house-bakery options, but a big bad wolf named Angelica has other plans.

"The Climb" provides examples of:

  • Beanstalk Parody: Susie tells the babies the story of Jackie and the Beanstalk, with her in the role of Jackie, Angelica in the role of the Bean Dealer, the Babies in the role of the Giants, and Dil in the role of the Goose that lays Golden eggs.
  • Fractured Fairy Tale: As mentioned above, Susie starts things off by reading a version of Jack and the Beanstalk called "Jackie and the Beanstalk".
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: This episode ends with Angelica as the Bean Dealer being chased away by Dil as the Goose that lays Golden eggs.
  • Multi-Part Episode: This is part 1 of a 4 part episode, where Susie tells the babies stories to pass the time while their parents paint the mural at Angelica's preschool.
  • Older Than They Think: This wasn't the first time the Rugrats did a Jack and the Beanstalk Parody. The second and final Tales from the Crib special from the original series did that, entitled Three Jacks and a Beanstalk.

"Wolf at the Door" provides examples of:

  • Fractured Fairy Tale: This time, Susie tells the babies the story of The Three Little Pigs, with Phil, Lil, and Tommy in the roles of the title characters, Angelica in the role of The Big Bad Wolf, and Chuckie in the role of a skunk that makes the best cookies in the world. The pigs' three houses are made of flowers, mud, and Click N' Pops. All three houses get knocked down and Angelica succeeds in getting Chuckie's cookie recipe, but she only ends up making cookies that are hard as bricks. She and Chuckie form an alliance and start a successful brick-making business.
  • Immediate Sequel: This picks up from where the previous segment left off.
  • Multi-Part Episode: This is part 2 of a 4 part episode, where Susie tells the babies stories to pass the time while their parents paint the mural at Angelica's preschool.
  • Reused Character Design: Angelica as the Big Bad Wolf uses the same design for her werewolf form in The Werewoof Hunter.
