Maura hesitantly starts to make inroads into establishing a relationship with her biological mother and half-sister, but her nerves keep getting the better of her. Meanwhile, a man is found stuffed in a garbage can after having attended a sex party hosted by a former prostitute. Later, it's revealed that Hope's younger daughter Cailin is in need of a kidney transplant but Cailin, knowing fully well who Maura is, refuses to accept her kidney. Hope, who has been frantically looking for Cailin, walks in and Maura tells her that she is Paddy Doyle's daughter. Disbelieving her, Hope tells her she doesn't want anything to do with her, walking out and leaving Maura in tears.

- Didn't Think This Through: Maura is initially upset that she and Jane are infiltrating a party as wait staff when the call girls have fancier outfits, but Jane reminds her that those girls have to take their clothes off.
- Freudian Excuse: Cailin, Maura’s half-sister, rejects the offer of a kidney donation from Maura because she’s spent years feeling like she has to live up to her mother’s “dead” previous daughter and doesn’t want to have any part of Maura in her, even though she needs the kidney to survive.
- My Greatest Failure: Cailin Martin, daughter of Hope Martin and Maura’s half-sister, contracted an infection while Hope Martin was travelling and helping people in other countries, and Hope can’t find a donor.
