Recap / Rick And The Loud House Chapter 51 Driving Ambition

Go To

Lori tries to pull off a good game in order to get into Fairway University. But something is throwing off her game and it's not just pre-game willies...

Rick & Morty episode:"The ABCs of Beth", "Rickmurai Jack"

Loud House episode: "Driving Ambition"

  • Adaptation Amalgamation: This chapter teases the "clone" subplot from The ABC's of Beth and adapts the motivations of Evil Morty from Rickmurai Jack.
  • Adaptational Context Change:
    • While Lori's nervousness about her game is still present from the original Loud House episode, there's now also the anger she feels towards Tammy for her betrayal at Birdperson's wedding.
    • Lynn doesn't directly help Lori with her golf game due to the former's commitment to refraining from sports, though she still gives her the talcum powder for her hands.
    • Like with Beth in canon, Rick offers to clone Lori so she could both fulfill her dream of attending Fairway and getting revenge on Tammy. However, where Beth accepted the offer, leading to the creation of Space Beth, Lori turns him down, not wanting to lie to her siblings.
    • We learn about President Lincoln's plans for the Central Finite Curve relatively earlier than when we learned about Evil Morty's plans, which was in the Season 5 finale of Rick and Morty.
    • President Lincoln brought Tammy to the Citadel to show her how Tammys across the Multiverse are killed so that he can warn her not to underestimate Rick and fall victim to the same fate.
    • Lori's slip-ups happen while she's practicing rather than during her game.
  • Adaptation Expansion: President Lincoln explains to Tammy that each Citadel of Ricks has a Central Finite Curve centered around them, all of which were apparently formed sometime after the Citadel of Ricks from Rick C-137's universe made its own.
  • Affably Evil: President Lincoln is rather friendly with Tammy during her time on the Citadel, even inviting her to play a video game.
  • Bittersweet Ending: More on the sweet side than most chapters. Lori and Rick managed to be more understanding toward each other and she wins her golf game without any mess-ups. However, Tammy and President Lincoln are still plotting against the family, with Tammy leaving to deal with an unexpected human rebel.
  • Boomerang Bigot: President Lincoln hates other Lincolns as much he does Ricks and Loud sisters, seeing them as annoying whiners who forgive their family too easily.
  • Call-Back: Tammy reveals that she got the information on the Infinity Balls by extracting the data from Heistotron after he was defeated in One Crew over the Cuckoo's Lynn.
  • Continuity Nod: Lori has been secretly keeping that "Lori College" pamphlet from the Citadel she found at the end of The Man with the Plan.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Tammy is clearly disturbed when President Lincoln expresses how much he hates other Lincolns as much as he does Ricks and Loud sisters.
  • I Want Them Alive!: President Lincoln tells Tammy not to KILL Rick, but instead bring him to the Citadel so he can have him destroy the Central Finite Curve.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: All President Lincoln wants to do is to break down the Central Finite Curve and escape the abusive hold of Ricks and his sisters. But the story reminds us that this is still EVIL Lincoln we're talking about; he doesn't give a damn about other Lincolns and his image of a "savior Lincoln" is nothing more than a public front.
  • Seen It All: President Lincoln admits that while there are versions of his family that are just fine with each other, there are versions that have "twisted" relationships.
  • Shout-Out: In explaining the concept of the Central Finite Curves, President Lincoln mentions one specific universe in which Rick has a grandson named "Morty".
  • The Unreveal: We never see the face of the human rebel who was captured by Glomflomites, but it's apparently the last person Tammy expected. Even President Lincoln was surprised to see who it was.
