Go To

Free from the brainwashing, Lincoln has to overcome his personal demons and help Rick and Lucy stop Lynn!

Can the Loud Family survive their biggest sibling fight yet?

Rick & Morty episode: N/A

Loud House episode: No Such Luck

  • Achilles in His Tent: Still doubting his own reasons for helping people, Lincoln doesn't go with Rick and Lucy to stop Lynn, feeling he'll only hurt someone for validation.
  • Berserk Button: Rick and Lynn press each other's buttons here. For Lynn, it's Rick flaunting his ego and intelligence. For Rick, it's Lynn saying he's not funny (after spitting in his face).
  • Batter Up!: Lynn uses a spiky metal bat in her battle with Rick.
  • Bittersweet Ending: In the end, Lincoln gets through to Lynn and reality is restored, but Lynn collapses, physically and emotionally exhausted, and she'll soon have to face her family for her actions. Plus, in The Stinger, the Galactic Federation learns that their Infinity Balls scheme has failed and we see that Tammy is plotting with Evil Lincoln.
  • Call-Back:
    • Lincoln remembers the time when Lynn stayed in his room in Space Invader in Time, citing it as an example of why she was so difficult to be around. He also admits that it's possible that she started being meaner to him because he admitted he didn't like her staying with him.
    • Also, Birdperson's wedding from The Wedding Squanchers is brought up as something that Rick wants to avoid a repeat of.
    • When Lincoln explains why he won't help take down Lynn, he brings up the events of Toxic Brawl in the Family, saying that since his need to help his family were his "toxins", he's nothing more than a bitter, selfish brat.
    • Another on from Space Invader in Time; when Lincoln finally talks Lynn down and asks her if Rick is all that bad, she remembers when he saved her from falling into the quantum void.
  • Casting Gag: When Lincoln hears Lucy doing her cheerleading routine, he notes that she almost sounds like Lynn. This is a reference to the fact that both characters are voiced by Jessica DiCicco in the actual Loud House cartoon.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Lincoln realizes that maybe if he just talked to Lynn at any time beforehand instead of just avoiding her, then maybe he could have ask her to tone down her roughness and things wouldn't have gotten to the point where she took over the entire world.
  • Double-Meaning Title: This chapter's title not only harkens back to Rick disparaging Lynn's superstitions in "Lynner Takes The Stone", but also states that the only "luck" there is is the luck one makes for himself, as demonstrated through Lincoln resolving to stand up to Lynn.
  • Go Through Me: Lucy puts herself between Rick and Lynn before the latter can kill him.
  • He's Back!: Just when hope seems lost for Rick and Lucy, in comes Lincoln, in his Ace Savvy costume and having overcome his issues to stop Lynn once and for all.
  • Hypocrite: Rick lambasts president Lynn for her fart-based humor while arguing in the White House, even though in his home series alone, he has demonstrated this kind of humour, much more profusely than Lynn does. And did we forget to mention that Lynn inherited her penchant for farting from Rick?
  • Never Be Hurt Again: Lynn reveals that this was her main motivation for her actions; her first year of middle school was utter hell and she got into sports to get tough and have the strength to fight back, while also deflecting any shortcomings onto superstitions like "bad luck". In the end, however, this all led Lynn to becoming a bully to her entire family, especially Lincoln.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Rick silently admits that Lynn's ego and need to prove who's better aren't entirely different from his own. He even says as such to her as he's at her mercy.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Lynn gives one to Rick after beating him, calling him a pathetic loser who uses his gadgets and adventures to impress everyone and hide the fact that he's a bitter old jerk that nobody wants to be around. Of course, Rick fires back that she's more akin to him than either of them care to realize.
    • During her fight with Lincoln, Lynn chews him out for his "geeky" comic book hobbies, his insecurities towards his sisters, and wanting to talk to her NOW when all he's ever done is avoid her.
    • But the big one goes to Lincoln, who's had enough and REALLY lays into her with how selfish, violent, and overall unpleasant she's been to him.
Lincoln: Why can't you just accept me for what I am! Why do you want to make me into something I'm not?! ... You wanna know why I avoided you?! It's because you make so hard to ever want to be around you! ... And since when did you care about my feelings?! You only ever think about yourself! You don't care about what other people have to say and you can't take even the slightest bit of criticism! ... You're rude. You're way too competitive and you're too full of yourself to ever see that!
  • Shout-Out:
    • The fight announcer calls Rick the "meaner, drunker version of Doc Brown".
    • After Rick gets exhausted from punching Lynn, she says "My turn".
  • Slipknot Ponytail: During the fight, Rick knocks Lynn back hard enough to completely undo her ponytail.
  • Spanner in the Works: Rick and Zeep. Rick anticipated that Lynn would go rouge, so he made a plan with Zeep (since his universe would be out of the Infinity Balls' reach) to get Lincoln into his universe and give him the antidote to reverse the effects of the brainwashing.
  • The Stinger: At the tail end of the chapter, we see Tammy and the gromflomites realizing that the Earth has returned to normal and that Tammy has a new collaborator: President/Evil Lincoln!
  • Take That!: During his argument with Lynn, Rick takes a shot at Dr. Phil, calling him a hack rather than an actual psychologist.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Once Lincoln pushes her back enough to make her bleed, Lynn starts falling apart with the creeping realization that, in her view, she's going back to that same weakling who got picked on in middle school. The setting even reflects this with the stadium being warped into a floating, crumbling island.
  • Villain Team-Up: We learn at the end that Tammy and Evil Lincoln are conspiring together against Rick and the Louds.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: As Lincoln explains his doubts and insecurities about his helpfulness, Mr. Grouse asks if validation was the reason why he threw him that Christmas party and gave him the bus ticket to see his family. Lincoln says "no" and it's here that he starts to realizes he helps people because he enjoys seeing people happy.
    • After their fight dies down, Lincoln gives his own heart-to-heart with Lynn, telling her that she didn't need to be a perfect, strong jock to be loved and that there is still a chance to go back to the kind girl he once knew and both he and their sisters will be there for her. This convinces Lynn to let go of the Infinity Balls and restore reality to normal.
Lincoln: I know it'll be hard, but we'll be there for you. I know you're more than just a jock. You don't have to prove yourself to the world anymore.
Lynn: ... Ok. I trust you, Linky.
