Mordecai must put up with his amazingly embarrassing mom (now voiced by Katey Sagal instead of Jennifer Hale) when he invites C.J. over to find a music mix tape he used to play for his past dates (even though Rigby and Mordecai's father claim that Mordecai has never had a girl over) — and confronts his past selves from an embarrassing compilation video his mom made when he was younger.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Alternate Self: Mordecai encounters his past selves that have been immortalized in his mom’s “Mordy Moments” video and have broken out into the real world to show him how much of a jerk he’s been to his mother.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Mordecai’s mom certainly is one.
  • Can Not Tell A Lie: Mordecai's dad. Not after 25 years of marriage...unless she asks him if she can still pass for a college student. Then he MUST lie.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Worse - Mordecai’s mom has a whole video tape of his most embarrassing moments that she shows to everyone she can.
  • Embarrassment Plot: This episode is focused on Mordecai being continuously embarrassed by his mom and her overzealousness with the girls he brings home. He eventually realizes that embarrassing moments can only bother him as much as he lets them.
  • Freudian Slip: Mordecai has one when his mom says she thinks his “Mordy Moments” tape is in the basement.
Mordecai: I’ll intercept - I mean, look for it!
  • Jerkass Realization: Mordecai comes to realize how much of a jerk he's been after his past selves call him out on him complaining about his mother despite being a great parent overall.
  • Joke of the Butt: In a Flashback, Mordecai’s mom embarrasses him by bursting into his room while he has a girl over and Shaking the Rump to the music he was playing.
Mordecai's Mom: Come on, Mordy! Shake what your mama gave ya! Your butt, Mordy, I’m talkin’ about your butt!
  • Overly-Nervous Flop Sweat: Mordecai breaks out in a nervous sweat when C.J. says she wants to meet his mom.
  • Rhyming Title
  • Shout-Out:
    • The paper Mordecai's mom holds up in the “Mordy Moments” video that says “20th Century Mom” is a reference to 20th Century Fox (currently named 20th Century Studios).
    • During “Mordy Moments”, Mordecai is shown in a play about Peter Pan.
  • Staggered Zoom: One on Mordecai’s mom’s face as she says that Mordecai and C.J. should stay longer, eat the C.J.-shaped dessert she made, and watch the “Mordy Moments” tape.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Rigby and Mordicai’s dad both say the exact same thing when Mordecai claims to have brought girls over to his house.
How many times? Was it zero times?
  • Title Drop: The title of one of the mixtapes Mordecai wants to find for C.J. is the same as the episode’s title.
  • Through a Face Full of Fur: Mordecai’s face turns bright red when his mom humiliates him in front of a girl he brought home for a study date.
  • Wedgie: One of the embarrassing moments on the “Mordy Moments” tape is Mordecai playing Peter Pan in a school play and getting a major wedgie when the strings pull him up to fly.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Mordecai's past selves do this to him when he tries to destroy the old tape.
  • What You Are in the Dark: When Mordecai is released from his past selves, he is given back his mixtape and the "Mordy Moments" video, given the opportunity to choose the former, which is what he intended from the beginning. He chooses the latter without destroying it.
