Tropes

  • Big Eater: Benson eats two Ulti-Meatums, rather large burgers, by himself.
  • Denied Food as Punishment: Benson bars Mordecai and Rigby from getting an Ulti-Meatum until all their work is done. And he eats their Ulti-Meatums himself when they use the holograms to sneak into the truck.
  • Downer Ending: Mordecai and Rigby missed the chance to eat the Ulti-Meatum, since Benson ate their two burgers, and the truck blew up after Rigby took away their wheel stopper to throw at the holograms.
  • Enemy Eats Your Lunch: Benson eats up Mordecai and Rigby's Ulti-Meatum burgers (to both punish them for skipping out on work and cause they're said to have super stellar taste) then rubs it in their faces.
  • Failure Montage: A good chunk of the episode's first half is just Mordecai and Rigby trying to ditch work for the burger truck, but getting caught and boomeranged back by Benson.
  • Impossibly Delicious Food: Despite being a Nutritional Nightmare, the Ulti-Meatum is said to be so good that it is served once every 100 years. Mordecai and Rigby risk getting fired from their jobs for two burgers.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Skips and Muscle Man both mock Mordecai and Rigby's misery in not being able to taste the Ulti-Meatums, making the duo even more determined to get out of work and sneak off to the food truck. In the end, Benson does it himself by stealing and eating both Mordecai and Rigby's Ulti-Meatums.
  • Jerkass Ball:
    • Benson is much nastier to Mordecai and Rigby than usual, stealing and eating their burgers out of spite.
    • To a lesser degree, Muscle Man and even Skips have no problem taunting the duo over missing out on the Ulti-Meatums.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Benson might have been cruel to eat their burgers in front of Mordecai and Rigby and mock the two over how they will now never get any, but he was right that they did have a backlog of work they hadn't done yet.
  • Karma Houdini: Benson gets away with stealing Mordecai and Rigby's burgers and eating them.
  • Kick the Dog: Benson eats the burgers that Mordecai and Rigby bought after they defeated the holograms.
Benson: Oh wait, you guys didn't get to have one. That's too bad, apparently they only make these once every 100 years. Which is about how long it will take for you to clean out Skips' garage!!
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Mordecai and Rigby ultimately defeat their hologram doppelgangers by shattering them with thrown objects.
  • Living Forever Is Awesome: Skips is happy knowing that, unlike Mordecai and Rigby, he'll be around in 100 years to get another Ulti-Meatum. Too bad the food truck, along with the two cooks that make them, plummeted into a nearby pit, meaning they'll never exist again...
  • Mean Boss: Benson, even more so than usual. He forces Mordecai and Rigby to do chores, even though he is aware that the Ulti-Meatum truck is in town and only sells their special burgers once every 100 years. To top it all off, he eats the burgers the duo purchased right in front of them and even mocks them over it.
  • Nutritional Nightmare: "Ulti-Meatum" counts as one. The ingredients include a cheeseburger inside a cheeseburger patty and two deep-fried cheeseburgers as buns, with Himalayan ketchup. It can even be made Idaho-style by stuffing a bag of chips in the burger.
  • Playing the Victim Card: When Mordecai and Rigby start destroying their holograms by throwing rocks at them Mordecai's hologram exclaims they just wanted a burger before being destroyed. This ignores the fact that they were stealing the burgers from Mordecai and Rigby themselves.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Mordecai and Rigby succeed in destroying their holograms, but the MacGuffin they were fighting over, the Ulti-Meatum cheeseburgers, get eaten by Benson. And Rigby unknowingly killed the two burger cooks, meaning Ulti-Meatums shall never exist again.
  • Title Drop: The very first line is Mordecai describing how the Ulti-Meatum is considered "The Best Burger in the World".
    Skips: That's a bold statement.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: Mordecai and Rigby use holograms to shirk off work, but the holograms become so like them that they shirk off work to sneak some Ulti-Meatums.
