Mordecai and Rigby need to learn to play music in time for an open-mic night they signed up for while in a sugar-induced high, and their future selves arrive to teach them.

- Accent Slip-Up: Future Mordecai and Rigby speak with fake British accents that they immediately drop when in a panic.
- Amulet of Concentrated Awesome: Subverted. The guitar picks Future! Mordecai gives the present duo are set up to be the source of Mordecai and Rigby's guitar-playing skills, but it turned out to be a cover for the fact that they were tricking their present selves into lip-syncing.
- An Aesop: Mordecai and Rigby noticed at the end of the show that their future selves stayed famous through lip-syncing. Mordecai makes a speech about the issue.
- Artist and the Band: The end result of the band name that Mordecai and Rigby have.
