Not a Sound
Sean tries to prove to Jet and Sydney that there's no sound in space.- Acquired Situational Narcissism: Sean already knows that there is no sound in space, yet Jet and Sydney are convinced that there is sound in space. Sean uses this as an opportunity to look smart and rub the fact that they're wrong in Jet and Sydney's faces.
- All Animals Are Dogs: Dr. Rafferty witnesses Sunspot tap-dancing, and calls him the weirdest dog she's ever seen.
- Bizarre Alien Biology: Subverted. Jet claims that he has heard sounds in space with his own three ears. Sean asks if Bortronians really do have three ears, but Jet says no, and he was trying to joke around.
- Gasp!: Jet, Celery, and Sydney all do a dramatic gasp when Sean actually wants to go to space.
- Gravity Screw: The mysterious sound was coming from Sunspot, who can somehow tap-dance on the ceiling of the treehouse.
- Jaw Drop: Jet's jaw drops when Sean suggests going to space for once.
- Mr. Imagination: Jet realizes that he must have been imagining sounds in space. Celery says that Bortronians all have excellent imaginations, and that she, too, imagined hearing sounds in space when she was little.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Sydney, Sunspot, Jet, and Celery are taken aback when Sean says he wants to go to space.
- Reaching Between the Lines: Jet and Celery somehow high-five each other through the Split-Screen Phone Call.
- Rule of Cool: Discussed. Sydney realizes that Commander Cressida comics depict sound in space to make them more exciting.
- Space Is Noisy: Averted to hell and back. Jet and Sydney are convinced that there are sounds in space, but then they learn that there isn't. However, they can still hear each other through their helmets, but only because there is air in their helmets.
- Split Screen: The screen is split in three when Sean, Jet, and Sydney each go running to find the source of a mysterious sound.
- Split-Screen Phone Call: Done between Jet and Celery.
- Watch Where You're Going!: Jet, Sean, and Sydney all crash into each other while running.
Mindy in Space
The gang creates a makeshift 'day in space' for Mindy.- Bait-and-Switch: This episode, titled "Mindy in Space," is actually about the kids pretending to take Mindy to space, complete with Mindy singing the take-off song.
- Big Eater: Jet wants to eat instead of plan Mindy's day in space. Sunspot proceeds to take Jet's submarine sandwich and eat it all.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: Mindy gets to say "Sunspot, car trip!" in this episode, which was usually Jet's catchphrase.
- Breather Episode: Although the episode has a brief lesson on the Leonid Meteor Shower, it's more of an entertainment episode than an educational one, making it a breather in terms of educational material.
- Continuity Cavalcade: Sunspot shows a compilation of all the times Mindy has said goodbye to the others. In order of which they are shown, they are "How We Found Your Sun," "Just the Right Distance From the Sun," "Mission to Mars," "What's Up with Saturn's Rings?," "Tour of the Solar System," "A Kid's Guide to Mars," "Solar Power Rover," "So Many Moons," "How Come the Moon Has Craters?," and "The Grandest Canyon."
- Imagine Spot: The kids imagine that they're on the moon while watching the Leonid Meteor Shower.
- Inflating Body Gag: Sunspot inflates his body when pretending to be Saturn.
- Mixed Metaphor: When Sydney says she has an idea, Jet says that he's "all eyes" when he really means "all ears."
- Never Bareheaded: Mindy gets to wear a space helmet, but we never get to see her take her bear hat off, and her putting on the helmet is deliberately and conveniently blocked by Sydney.
- Never Trust a Title: Mindy does not actually go to space in this episode.
- Portmanteau: Jet coins the word 'coolsome,' which is a mix between 'cool,' and 'awesome,' and would go on to be used in later episodes.
- Shout-Out: At one point in the episode, Carrot does the Tarzan yell.
- Vine Swing: Carrot briefly does this. He even imitates the Tarzan yell!
