Sean's Neptune Tune

Sean feels scared to go to Neptune, so Jet comes up with a song to help him feel better.
  • Artistic License – History: Sean's first flimsy excuse to leave is that he has to sort his astronaut figures in order of which year they landed on the moon. Jet tells Sean "Don't forget astronaut Alan Shepard! 1961 and 1971!" Actually, while Shepard did go to space in 1961, he only went to the moon in 1971.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Sean keeps running away from Jet and Sydney because he doesn't want to go to Neptune. While Sydney realizes that Sean is upset, Jet thinks that Sean is playing hide-and-seek.
  • Embarrassment Plot: Sean is scared to visit Neptune and is embarrassed to tell Jet and Sydney. They assure him that he can tell them anything and he should never feel embarrassed. Jet helps soothe Sean's fears by coming up with a song.
  • Friendship Moment: Sean admits to Sydney that he's scared to go to Neptune because a Commander Cressida story about it scared him, and he was embarrassed to say so. Sydney and Jet assure him that they're friends forever, and he shouldn't feel embarrassed to tell them anything.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Sean tries to get out of going to Neptune by saying he has to sort his astronaut figures in order of which year they landed on the moon. Later, he says he has to memorize all the moons of Jupiter in alphabetical order. Finally, he says that he has to get his pet hamster, Pedro, ready for the eclipse next month.
  • Ill-Timed Sneeze: Sean gave away his hiding place by sneezing.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Although not malicious, Jet is extremely insensitive towards Sean in this episode. Sean is legitimately worried about going to Neptune, and tells Jet multiple times that he does not want to go. Sydney notices something's wrong, but Jet thinks that Sean is playing a game and doesn't show concern for him until Sean admits how he feels. However, Jet helps Sean feel better by coming up with a song.
  • Insert Song: Jet makes up a song about Neptune for Sean to sing. It successfully helps him feel better.
  • Look Behind You: Sean distracts Jet and Sydney by saying "Wow! Look, a rare moment when you can see the sun and the moon in the sky at the same time!" so he can run away from them.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Sydney immediately notices that something is wrong with Sean, since he's more anxious than usual than go to space.
  • Shaking the Rump: At one point during "Neptune Kind of Day," Sean shakes his rear at the viewer.
  • Talking to Themself:
Sean: (sighs) Neptune this, Neptune that. But it's so far away! Like, more than 2 billion miles! And so cold!
Jet: Sean, are you talking to yourself?
    Sean: Yes. Yes I am.
  • Unmanly Secret: The thing Sean was trying to hide from Jet and Sydney was the fact that he was scared to go to Neptune because of a Commander Cressida comic.

Earthday Birthday

The gang throws an 'earthday birthday' for Jet after they find out they missed all his Bortronian birthdays.
  • Birthday Episode: Sorta. The kids find out that Jet is 63 years old in Bortronian years, which means that they missed all his birthdays. However, they decide to throw a party to celebrate the anniversary of when he landed on Earth, and call it an 'earthday birthday.'
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: This episode demonstrates that the Propulsions have a hard time keeping other secrets. Carrot and Celery let slip that a surprise party is being planned to Jet. Luckily, they don't tell him that it is for him (to celebrate the anniversary of when he arrived on Earth).
  • Comically Missing the Point: Sean, Sydney, and Mindy make up a lie that they're planning a surprise party for "Brett," so Jet won't find out that the party is actually for him. Jet thinks that Brett is real and starts to look for Brett. Later, when Jet comes to the surprise party, the other kids explain that Brett isn't real, but Jet still thinks that he is and wonders where he's at.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: When Mindy finds out that Jet is 63 on Bortron 7, she says that her abuelo is 63.
  • Hide and No Seek: In order to keep Jet busy, Mindy tells Jet to count to 1,000 while she runs off.
  • Insert Song: Sean and Sydney write a song for Jet's surprise party.
  • Invented Individual: Sean, Sydney, and Mindy create a fake person named Brett and say that the surprise party is for him. Even at the end of the episode, Jet thinks Brett is real.
  • I've Heard of That — What Is It?: Celery claims that Bortronians are great at keeping secrets. Carrot agrees with this, only to ask what a secret is.
  • Off Like a Shot: Jet strikes this pose before running to find Sean and Sydney. However, Mindy stops him in his tracks.
  • Older Than They Look: Jet looks like a kid, but he's 63 years old (in Bortronian years, that is). He states that he's the same age as Sean and Sydney in Earth years, likely around 10. This would mean that 1 Earth year is equal to 6 Bortronian years.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Well, more like "Really Several Decades Old" but Jet is 63 (Bortronian) years old; much older than his human friends. However, he says he's the same age as them in human years.
  • Shown Their Work: Face 9000 says that Mindy would be almost 17 years old on planet Mercury. Mindy is 4 years old in this episode. If you multiply 4 by 365 (the number of days in an Earth year), you get 1,460. Divide that by 88 (the number of days in a Mercury year), and you get 16.5909, which rounds to 17. So yeah, Face was right.
  • Surprise Party: The episode has the group planning a surprise party for Jet for the anniversary that he came to Earth.
  • Toilet Humour: In the only instance of toilet humour on the show, one of Jet's birthday badges makes a farting noise and emits skunk spray.
  • Wilting Odor: The skunk smell badge smells so bad, it causes Sunspot to faint.
