Tropes

  • Badass Boast: "I am the most powerful, most supreme leader the Machine Empire has ever known!"
  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet: Just after Sprocket comes out of hiding and starts singing gleefully that his brother was finally gone, Gasket and Archerina appear behind him, having somehow survived the Ultrazord's attack.
  • Everyone Can See It: The other Rangers expect Tommy to ask Kat out, question him fumbling it, and explicitly point out she wants him to ask her out.
  • Foreshadowing: Jason's powers start to fluctuate.
  • Forgot to Pay the Bill: Detective Stone's detective agency has never been particularly busy or (depending on the episode) all that effective. In this episode, Detective Stone has a mountain of unpaid bills that threaten to put him out of business.
  • In-Universe Factoid Failure: Bulk and Skull's costumes at the luau aren't as authentic as they thought. Tanya and Ernie point out that Hawaiian warriors don't have body paint or wield tomahawks.
  • Not Quite Dead: Gasket and Archerina, much to Sprocket's displeasure.
  • Now You Tell Me: Due to accidentally using permanent ink for their facial paint, Bulk and Skull ask the Rangers for some paint remover, only for Rocky to inform them they have to wait until the ink wears off.
  • Pun: "We're just here to help our relationship grow."
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Gasket and Archerina flee in the face of an angry Mondo.
  • Ship Tease: Between Tommy and Kat.
  • Shout-Out: The episode's title is a reference to Hawaii Five-O.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Unlike their Super Sentai counterparts Kaiser Buldont and Multiwa, Gasket and Archerina survived their giant battle note .
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Ernie says that someone anonymously cleaned up the mess the machines made at the beach club. Jason, Rocky, and Tanya's reactions indicate they did it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Sprocket manipulated all this in order to get rid of his brother.
  • Uriah Gambit: Having become aware that becoming giant is basically a death sentence for villains, Sprocket tricks Gasket and Archerina into growing so they'd perish to the Zords. Unfortunately, they survive.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Sprocket's plan was for Gasket to be destroyed in battle. He survived, only to get scared off by Mondo's sudden appearance, so Sprocket still got a win out of this.
