Recap / Power Rangers Wild Force S1E40 The End of the Power Rangers Part 2

Go To

With the Wildzords destroyed and their powers gone, the powerless Rangers end up on a wild ride when the Animarium plummets to earth. Even after surviving, the heroes find themselves in a darkened, rainy Turtle Cove filled with an army of Putrids. Can six mere humans find the courage to fight even without their Ranger powers and pull off the ultimate miracle, or will the giant Master Org be the villain who finally defeats the Power Rangers?

Tropes:

  • …And That Little Girl Was Me: The school teacher telling her students the tale of the Wild Force Rangers in the final scene is Alyssa.
  • But Now I Must Go: Shayla does this after the Rangers destroy Master Org.
  • Combined Energy Attack: The final destruction of Master Org came from every Wild Zord the Rangers had found and others that were believed to have been lost combining their power in an energy beam beat down before the Rangers themselves destroy the Org Heart with their Jungle Sword, preventing Master Org from ever coming back.
  • The Fellowship Has Ended: By the end of it all, the Wild Force Power Rangers are no more. Cole decides to help animals in need, Danny and Max travel to see the world, Taylor returns to the Air Forcenote , Alyssa becomes a school teacher, and Merrick travels the Earth to seek redemption along with Zen-Aku.
  • Final Battle-Induced Shirt Loss: Cole is forced to strip off his shirt to rescue Scotty from the Putrids and reunite him with his parents.
  • Grand Finale: Not just the finale of Wild Force, but of the franchise's MMPR Productions era as a whole, as well as the final episode shot in the United States.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Zen-Aku appears alive (with no explanation) and decides to join Merrick on a road to redemption.
Zen-Aku: You're not the only lone wolf seeking redemption.
  • Homage: The unmorphed rangers doing their roll call was likely inspired by a similar scene in Gosei Sentai Dairanger as well as Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger.
  • Journey to Find Oneself: Much like with Toxica and Jindrax two episodes ago, Merrick does this as well, with Zen-Aku accompanying him.
  • Last Stand: Despite their powers gone and the Wild Zords destroyed, the Rangers refuse to give up and fight defiantly against Master Org's forces. It's this determination that revives the Wild Zords...all of them.
  • Near-Villain Victory: As mentioned before, Master Org singlehandedly brought the Power Rangers the closest they've ever been to defeat and almost took over the world on his own. It would be at least seven years before anyone else outdid him.
  • Old Friend: Zen-Aku calls Merrick this when joining him in his journey.
  • Peaceful in Death: Cole hopes that Dr. Adler found this rather than take pride in his death.
  • Redemption in the Rain: The Rangers themselves do this.
  • Series Fauxnale: The original plan was for Disney to cancel the series after this season and simply air reruns on their cable channels before being talked into moving production to New Zealand.
  • This Cannot Be!: Master Org's reaction to the Zords' return. He shouldn't have tempted fate by taunting and gloating to the Rangers as he prepared to end their lives.
  • This Was His True Form: Adler's real face is superimposed on his monster form moments before he's destroyed.
  • Walking the Earth: Merrick and, somehow, Zen-Aku in the finale; also, Danny and Max.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: In the final scene we see what the Rangers go on to do with their lives:
    • Cole makes peace with Dr. Adler's spirit and goes on to help any animals he can find.
    • Taylor rejoins the air-force, and occasionally sees the Eagle Zord while in her jet.
    • Max and Danny go on a world tour to spread their "never give up" philosophy.
    • Merrick goes on to walk the world to find his place in the new era, alongside the spirit of Zen-Aku who seeks to atone for his past misdeeds.
    • Alyssa has become a teacher and tells the story of the Wild Force Rangers to her students.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The Putrids have no problems trapping Scotty into a dangerous situation.
