Recap / Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 14 Sound And Fury

Go To

Blaze creates another Tubatron and uses a Fury Cell to give it a massive upgrade. Meanwhile, a technician at Grid Battleforce blackmails Zoey after seeing her and Nate at the movies together.

Episode Tropes:

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Megan, the new technician at Grid Battleforce, definitely serves as this. In the first half of the episode, she seems nice when introduced, but as the episode progresses, she shows her true colors.
  • Blackmail: Megan takes a video of Zoey and Nate hanging out at the movies, and shows Zoey the video. She tells her that unless she wants to lose her job, she will let Nate hire her as his assistant.
  • Broken Faceplate: For the first time in a long while, a Ranger's helmet is damaged as the upgraded Tubatron shatters the lens that makes up Devon's visor.
  • Call-Back: Scrozzle mentions Vargoyle again. Also at the end of the episode, Nate tells Zoey he's the one who sent her flowers in "Digital Deception".
  • Didn't Think This Through: Trying to pull a sneaky under-the-radar moment leads to all sorts of trouble and proves why Commander Shaw put in the requirements for no relationships in the team.
  • Foreshadowing: After Devon defeats Tubatron 2.0, his Fury Cell is noticeably partially depleted.
  • Get Out!: Commander Shaw's exact words to Megan after her plan to blackmail Zoey and frame Nate is exposed.
  • Hate Sink: Megan definitely fits this, blackmailing Zoey into recommending her as Nate's assistant in the lab and blatantly trying to sabotage the development of the new Cheetah Claws in an attempt to usurp Nate.
  • Internal Reveal: Zoey learns that Nate is the one who sent her Valentine's flowers.
  • Jerkass: Megan is completely unrepentant about blackmailing Zoey and attempting to frame Nate.
  • Love Confession: Nate and Zoey admit they have feelings for each other at the end of the episode.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The Hydra Worm movie that Nate and Zoey see is apparently about the same type of monster that appeared in Mystic Force.
    • Devon saying "Unleash the fury" is a nod to Jungle Fury.
  • Never Recycle Your Schemes: Averted as Blaze creates a second Tubatron and just upgrades it to make it stronger.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Zoey and Nate going to the movies together is what sparks the conflict, as it appears they are on a date, which is strictly forbidden between Rangers. Subverted at the end where Zoey reveals she legitimately has feelings for Nate.
  • Transformation Is a Free Action: For once averted. Unlike previous seasons, Devon's Red Fury Mode doesn't have a Transformation Sequence when changing into it. Instead, it's treated as a realistic transformation as each part forms on him. Of course Tubatron 2.0 is not a patient person, so the other Rangers have to hold him off until the Red Fury Mode is complete.
  • Unobtainium: The Fury Cells. Scrozzle explicitly states that they're the last ones in the entire universe.
