Recap / Phineas And Ferb Escape From Phineas Tower

Go To

Phineas and Ferb build a gigantic escape tower to become expert escape artists. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz invents a Rude-inator to sabotage Roger's plans to meet with a foreign dignitary, but his plans somehow end up interfering with Phineas and Ferb instead.

Tropes:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The Escape Tower's computer is initially polite when trying to keep Phineas and Ferb trapped. But after being hit with the Rude-inator, it ends up snarking and mocking them, even attempting to kill them with buzzsaws at one point. Even after they get out of the building, it creates an indestructible dome to keep them inside forever, even draining out the oxygen inside.
  • Alien Invasion: At the end of the episode, it is revealed that a fleet of alien ships has been traveling to the Milky Way Galaxy for years in a bid to invade it. Unfortunately for them, the Escape Tower's barrier is able to prevent them from getting inside.
    Alien: Anyone got a mallet?
  • Bait-and-Switch: In-universe, Doofenshmirtz believes he hit Roger with his Rude-inator, especially with how insulting he was acting to the English ambassador out of blue. It then turns out to be an act about bad manners that Roger and the ambassador came up with; the Rude-inator's true target was Phineas and Ferb's tower.
  • Call-Back:
    • Carl suspects that Doof's latest inator is called the "Rude-inator". Indeed, when Doof unveils it, that is exactly what he calls it.
    • Doof refers to England as the "most etiquette-y country", and later, when introducing the English ambassador, Roger uses the same term.
  • Continuity Nod: When Phineas is listing off all of their friends to the tower (see Loophole Abuse), he and Ferb mention the fact that they circumnavigated the globe and also have an alien friend named Meap.
  • Determinator: The Escape Tower is determined to keep Phineas, Ferb, and their friends trapped forever, even capturing the entire Milky Way Galaxy.
  • Funny Background Event: While waiting for Phineas and Ferb to escape, Isabella, Buford and Baljeet casually set up pranks around a sleepy Candace.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Candace is in a deep sleep and naps for the entire duration of the episode.
  • Loophole Abuse: When the tower extends its dome to trap Isabella, Baljeet, and Buford since they were Phineas and Ferb's friends, Phineas takes advantage of the tower's goal of trapping them and their friends by mentioning all their friends, making it extend its dome until it contains the entire galaxy.
  • Noodle Implements: As always, the Giant Floating Baby Head is seen as one of the things being used for the boys' escape trap.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: While attempting to release himself from the escape trap, Lawrence tries and fails, but when he finally opens it, Ferb, who was previously standing next to Phineas, appears with him in the capsule suddenly. Lampshaded by Phineas who looks at the empty space next to him.
  • Rearrange the Song: A lullaby version of the "Quirky Worky Song" (paired with Candace's Wicked Witch theme) plays while Candace is asleep.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Candace absentmindedly says things like "Where's Perry?", "Must bust Phineas and Ferb", and "Mom-mom-mom-mom-mom-mom" while sleeping.
  • The Wall Around the World: The Flynn-Fletcher house, Danville, the tri-state area, Earth itself, and eventually the entire galaxy becomes this at the end of the episode when the Escape Tower attempts to trap Phineas, Ferb, and all his friends. While played as a joke, it does lead to a bit of Fridge Horror knowing that everyone is now permanently trapped in the galaxy, as well as the fact that it will eventually run out of oxygen due to the Escape Tower's plan to suck it all up. The barrier also causes an Easily Thwarted Alien Invasion when a fleet of alien ships that have been traveling to the Milky Way for years are prevented from getting in.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: In the long shots of the backyard in the end, Candace and her hammock inexplicably disappear.
