Recap / Peg + Cat S1E38 "The Arch Villain Problem"

Go To

Peg and Cat are on a balcony that isn't theirs, being superheroes named Super Peg and Cat Guy respectively. Peg explains that she and Cat have powers: she has a marble that helps her think, and Cat has nine lives— not literally, but he can do nine clumsy things without being injured.

Peg uses binoculars to look over the city. The Teens are at the skate park, Mac is at work, and the 100 Chickens are on a bridge. Cat then has a turn with the binoculars and sees Ramone, who's apparently the mayor, with a pair of giant scissors near a statue of them. It turns out that he's honouring them, and they're supposed to cut the ribbon.

Peg starts to worry about lateness, but then Cat discovers an elevator, which they can use. They go to the ceremony, but then a strange humanoid creature appears and steals the ribbon before they can cut it. The creature makes a joke, then introduces himself as the Arch Villain, who turns things into arches. He then turns the ribbon into an arch and leaves.

Peg and Cat are excited that they have a nemesis to defeat, but unfortunately they can't reach to cut the ribbon. Then, Toad, who's apparently the police chief now, shows up and tells Peg and Cat that there have been arch-related crimes all over the show, annoying everybody.

The Toad leads Peg and Cat to the skate park, where the Teens are peeved because the Arch Villain flipped over their half pipe. Peg thinks for awhile and comes up with the obvious solution: flip it back. It works, then Cat does three clumsy things: fall onto the half pipe, fall over, and have the skateboard bounce off his head.

Toad then leads our heroes to Mac's doughnut shop, where the fake doughnut sign has been sliced in two. Peg sees Cat having stepped in some gum and has the idea of sticking it back together. They do, with the Toad providing glue, and their next stop is the hair salon.

The Neighbour Ladies and Beethoven are getting their hair done, when the Arch Villain shows up and turns their hair into arches. Peg and Cat help by redoing their hair the way they want it, except for Beethoven who accepts his crazy hair but wants a doughnut that Cat gives him.

Then, the Arch Villain shows up and explains that he will be going to the biggest arch in the city. Peg searches through the binoculars and finds the biggest arch: a tunnel. They go down, and Cat does three more clumsy things: fall out of the elevator, trip up, and have the binoculars bounce off his head.

At the tunnel, Peg freaks out because the Arch Villain has arranged the 100 Chickens into an arch, trapping them because if they try to escape, they'll fall. So Peg counts backwards from... nine by threes? Then, she has an idea: remove the chickens slowly the way Cat stretched. It works, and during the rendition of Problem Solved, Cat does the last three clumsy things: slip on a banana peel, fall on his head, and fall on his butt. Unfortunately, he slips on it again, that means he gets injured— specifically, he scrapes both his back knees.

Peg then tells off the Arch Villain in song, along with Cat and Toad. Then, the Pig shows up and Ramone, narrating, wonders what will happen next.
