Tropes for the episode:

  • Asshole Victim:
    • Cudney won't be missed by anyone in the audience.
    • Kosygin is a sociopathic hitman who relishes the forty-nine lives he's taken. Word of God says that he was killed off-screen.
  • Domestic Abuse: Keller implies to Sister Pete that he did this to his ex-wives on an emotional level.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones Kenny agrees when McManus asks him to take part in a parenting programme for the sake of his son. With that said this is downplayed as when we see him with his son he begins yelling at him for crying and tells him to be a man.
  • He Knows Too Much: Ryan pays Kosygin to kill Cudney to keep him from exposing him for spiking the drinks of Cyril's opponents.
  • Laughing Mad: Kosygin laughs like a maniac after trying to kill Stanislofsky.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Stanislofsky tries to trick Ryan into taking out Kosygin, though Ryan sees through it, and successfully manipulates Pancamo into getting Kosgyn out of Em City.
  • Never My Fault: Vern blames Andrew's death entirely on Beecher and Keller.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished; It's revealed Khan is in prison for preventing a rape.
  • No-Sell: Stanislofsky tries to manipulate Ryan into killing Kosygin, but Ryan knows that song-and-dance too well.
  • Pet the Dog
    • Giles initially refuses to give up any information about the murder of Samuel Hughes out of fear for being killed, but when Mukada tells him he has a son who needs closure he willingly give up his info about the murder without anything to gain.
    • In a rather twisted example, Robson assures Vern he did the right thing by having Andrew killed so his friend won't feel so bad.
    • After his despicable manipulation of Andrew, Beecher shows he still has some humanity when he comforts Said after hearing him crying.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Pancamo calls Cyril a "retard' and makes a joke about Beecher and Said being lovers
  • Politically Incorrect Hero; The Muslims are not at all happy that Said allowed Beecher to stay to hear their discussion. While they claim this is because Beecher is a non-believer, Said thinks it has more to do with him being white. This is the final straw that allows Said to be ousted as the leader and Khan to take command.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Pancamo ends up being this to both Stanislofsky and O'Reily in their own attempts to get rid of Kosygin.
