Meanwhile, Nathan and Haley take the first steps in reclaiming their dreams.

Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Deb returns to Tree Hill, becoming Jamie’s new nanny.
  • Call-Back: Upon running into each other at the hospital, Dan alludes to Lucas and Nathan attacking him the last time they were together,
  • Category Traitor: Q views Skills as this when he realises that Skills has told Lucas about his hand still being messed up, going so far as to call him an "Uncle Tom."
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Brooke purchasing nothing but toys for the baby she’s going to be fostering; it’s only when Haley and Peyton ask that she realises she didn’t buy anything to actually take care of the baby.
    • Q asked Skills not to tell Lucas about his wrist not being right, not considering that Lucas would have eventually figured it out anyway when Q wasn’t playing to the standard he had previously set for himself.
  • He's Back!: Lucas returns to Tree Hill, having spent the last month at sea.
  • Insistent Terminology: Nanny Deb, not Grandma Deb.
  • It's All My Fault: Peyton admits to Lucas that she blames herself for Lindsey leaving him at the altar, but Lucas reassures that she’s not to blame.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Jamie not being told about Dan’s crimes resurfaces, with the young boy not understanding why everyone hates Dan because he seems nice; Lucas tries to explain the situation to Jamie, but doesn’t offer up any specifics.
  • Love Will Lead You Back: Lucas has convinced himself that Lindsey will return to him in time.
  • Mundane Solution: After interviewing a number of nannies she wasn’t comfortable with, Haley decides… to just hire mother-in-law Deb as the new nanny.
  • Never Say "Die": When Jamie asks Lucas why everyone is so mad at Grandpa Dan, Lucas doesn’t tell Jamie any of the specifics but tries to explain the issue with an allegory about someone hurting Jamie’s pet rabbit Chester.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Peyton asks Lucas about building a recording studio in Red Bedroom’s space at TRIC to cut down costs.
  • Sweeping the Table: Peyton does so upon being given Haley’s new demo, dramatically shoving the pile of demos on her desk into the trash.
  • Titled After the Song: The episode is taken from the song "What Do You Go Home To?" by Explosions In The Sky.
  • Unperson: Jamie and Nathan discuss Tree Hill High removing Dan's jersey from it's place of prominence hanging in the gym.
