"All Tomorrow’s Parties" is the fourteenth episode of Season 3 of One Tree Hill and originally aired February 8th, 2006. The episode was written by Anna Lotto and directed by David Paymer.

Brooke, Peyton and Haley head to New York for a fashion show, allowing Rachel to assume control as the rest of the cheerleaders head to Charlotte for the annual cheerleading tournament. Nathan and Lucas get a look at the life Dan never provided for them, and Whitey ruins Keith and Karen’s plans for romance.

Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Brick Joke: Haley and Karen accidentally order a porno on a hotel TV; later, Whitey is seen arguing with reception about a dirty movie being charged to his room.
  • Call-Back:
  • Candlelit Bath: Nathan and Haley share one, after her arrival in Charlotte.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Peyton gets drunk whilst hanging out with Rachel; when she stumbles into Lucas’ hotel room, he assumes that Peyton’s drinking stems from losing Ellie.
  • Foil: Mr Battle serves as one to Dan - they both played basketball into college and became fathers at a young age, but Mr Battle let go of the game to focus on raising his family, whilst Dan was never able to.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Rachel, who decides to drop Peyton off at her and Brooke’s shared hotel knowing that Lucas was sleeping there as a result of rooms being changed, when Peyton was supposed to stay with Rachel for the night.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: When Brooke arrives in Charlotte, she heads to her hotel room to find Lucas getting dressed and a hungover Peyton still asleep and assumes that the two hooked up whilst she was in New York. Lucas quickly talks Brooke down by saying he slept on the floor and explaining the situation before reminding Brooke that Peyton needs all of her friends right now.
  • Moment Killer: Whitey guilts Keith into going bowling with him, scuppering Keith and Karen’s planned date night.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Bevin reorganises the sleeping arrangements for the various cheerleaders and their boyfriends so they can all share hotel rooms, even taking into account Brooke’s absence and Peyton’s history with Lucas.
  • Precocious Crush: Tony’s little sister quickly develops a crush on Lucas.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After a conversation with her model Solaris, Brooke decides to walk away from the competition and head to Charlotte to be with her friends, reasoning that she only has a few more months of being able to do things like that.
  • Ship Tease: As Rachel accompanies a drunk Peyton back to her hotel room, Peyton sings a song that she claims reminds her of Lucas, before correcting herself and claiming she meant Jake. Besides, seriously hung over, she spends the night together with Lucas, who takes care of her, a situation which even Brooke misunderstands when she suddenly arrives the morning after, thinking the two have slept together.
  • Spanner in the Works: Whitey puts a damper on Karen and Keith’s plans by guilt tripping Keith into going bowling with him.
  • There Is Only One Bed: Lucas and Nathan’s hotel room only has one bed; it stops being an issue when rooms are changed to accommodate various relationships, including Nathan and Haley - who wind up taking the room instead.
  • Titled After the Song: The title of the episode is taken from the song "All Tomorrow's Parties" by The Velvet Underground.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: With Brooke out of the picture, Rachel finally gets to assume the role of cheer captain; however her strict methods result in the other cheerleaders happily welcoming Brooke back when she returns.
  • Verbal Backspace: A drunken Peyton sings a song that she claims reminds her of Lucas, before correcting herself by saying she meant Jake.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: As they watch the kids dancing around on stage in the aftermath of the Ravens’ failed routine, Karen proposes to Keith; he protests that she can’t propose to him, because he was going to propose to her.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Lucas lets Tony’s little sister glam him up with make up, much to the amusement of the drunk Peyton.
    Lucas: Are you drunk?
Peyton: …Are you wearing eye shadow?
  • Written-In Absence: Nathan tells Lucas that Dan has prior commitments as mayor that prevent him from following the team to Charlotte.
