Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 3 Power To The Puppies

Go To

After their respective adherence to and disregard for rules clash, Dylan and Dolly decide to hold an election to decide who will be top dog in the house.

This episode features examples of:

  • Both Sides Have a Point: While Dolly does admit to Dylan's point that some rules are needed some times, Dylan also realizes Dolly's point that he tends to go too far with doing so, such as precision tooth brushing.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Diesel wins the election without even meaning to compete in it.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Dante's introduction has him warning the Dalmatian family about division and disaster happening (plus rain), based on a dream he has.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Dante's first proper appearance has him doing what he does best: loudly proclaiming that the end is near and that everyone is doomed.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Dylan and Dolly share their regular starring role with Diesel.
  • Election Day Episode: The first part of the episode has Dylan and Dolly decide to hold an election for the position of boss in the house. The second part consists of dealing with he consequences of the Dark Horse Victory.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: Dante gets multiple close-ups on his baggy eyes as he predicts doom throughout the episode.
  • Idiot Houdini: Despite ultimately damaging the family home with his antics, as well as almost getting his siblings drowned due to the house being flooded, Diesel suffers no consequences for his stupidity (aside from Dylan briefly getting mad at him - see What the Hell, Hero? below) - in fact, he even willingly gives up the position of Top Dog after the flooding is stopped rather than being stripped of it.
  • Pointy-Haired Boss: Diesel when he's elected top dog. He's quickly overwhelmed by the responsibility and runs away from it, leading to anarchy and "famine" (read: kibble shortage). When he finally does take charge, he makes things even worse by having the puppies dig so deep they puncture a water pipe and cause a flood.
  • Properly Paranoid: After Diesel is elected Top Dog, Dylan tells Dolly that Diesel will end up screwing the position over due to his stupidity. True to his brother's word, Diesel does ultimately screw up due to making the pups dig so deep that they puncture a water pipe.
  • Shout-Out: Diesel is giving a speech that is similar to Scar's song Be Prepared from Disney's The Lion King.
  • Treacherous Advisor: After Diesel gets overwhelmed by the responsibilities of being top dog, Dolly convinces him to go and have some fun so she can hold the position in his place.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Dylan rightfully gets on Diesel's case when the latter causes the house to be flooded due to his stupidity - additionally, Dolly's response to Diesel attempting to dig the water is a Face Palm.
