Lloyd and Garmadon must retreat from the Oni, but the Destiny's Bounty is in another part of Ninjago, answering to a rescue call.
Tropes
- Bittersweet Ending: Lloyd and Garmadon manage to destroy the Realm Crystal... But it does nothing to stop the Oni, regardless they find out the Golden Master's armor is their weakness and use it to escape to safety along with the remaining citizens of Ninjago; but Cole falls from the Bounty during the escape and Lloyd's and Garmadon's relationship is all but outright destroyed beyond repair by Garmadon's continued insensitivity, with all the Ninja (Lloyd included) deciding he's not worth their time anymore despite having found a key to victory and angrily ditch him to grieve Cole, all the while Garmadon appears to have finally comprehended a bit about empathy when he consults with Vinny about it. Then we're shown Cole survived the fall albeit unconscious, and with the darkness closing in on him he has little time left if nothing is done about it.
- Moment of Silence: There is not a sound from the Ninja after Cole falls and they regroup. Until Garmadon ruins the moment with his insensitivity at which that point Lloyd gives up on him ever changing and tells him off while the rest of the Ninja besides Zane refuse to stand anywhere near Garmadon anymore.
- Slow-Motion Fall: When Cole starts falling with no hope of rescue.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Lloyd calls out Garmadon on his insensitivity and selfishness after he dismisses Cole's apparent death, and makes it clear he won't tolerate anymore his inability to care about anyone but himself before leaving. The other Ninja don't say much, but they make it clear they're all equally done with Garmadon's selfishness. For once, their rejection and anger towards him manages to make Garmadon somewhat see the error of his ways, leading to him beginning to question his own ideals.Lloyd: Cole was our friend. He was more than a friend, he was family. But you don't understand that, do you? What's the point? You're never gonna get it! Because you don't care about anyone, but yourself!Garmadon: Every moment you delay risks our survival!Lloyd: There's more to life than SURVIVING!!
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Nya automatically pulls the lever to the thrusters one way, forgetting in the stressful situation that whoever rebuilt the ship rewired it in reverse. This causes Cole to lose his grip on the ladder and fall, seemingly to his death.
