The 118 must race to help rescue numerous survivors of a deadly plane crash in the ocean. Athena seeks revenge against the bullies that were targeting May, resulting in work related consequences.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Adults Are Useless: During her confrontation with Laila's parents at the station, Athena calls them out on this as she reveals that May wasn't the only one getting bullied by Laila.
    Mr. Creedy: You should have come to us if you had concerns.
    Athena: What, like the other parents who complained to you about "Satan" over there? Yeah, that's right, I talked to 'em, and I know you did nothing, not a single. Damn. Thing.
  • Anachronic Order: The timeline jumps around to different moments before and after the plane crash.
  • Banging for Help: A couple that were in the bathroom when the plane went down are heard banging on the door in hopes of someone will save them.
  • Berserk Button: Absolutely do NOT read, touch, or even ask about Bobby's book of names. Buck learned this the hard way.
  • Big Disaster Plot: This episode revolves around a crashed plane in the ocean.
  • Foreshadowing: It's hinted that Bobby is harbouring a dark secret.
    • Bobby forcefully shoves Buck into a wall, when Buck starts asking questions about his notebook and admits that he snuck a peek at the contents.
    • After the plane crash, Bobby goes home, makes dinner and speaks with his kids about the accident, however, the kids are only seen from the back. The scene changes and Bobby is sitting at the table with four empty dinner settings and a bottle of alcohol, with no signs of the kids.
      • When Hen and Buck find him two days later, Hen asks Bobby who he was cooking for, as there is no one else living in the apartment.
  • Heroic BSoD: After the plane crash rescue, Bobby falls Off the Wagon and goes on a bender for two days. He breaks down asking for help when Hen and Buck find him.
  • I Warned You: Subverted Hen warns Buck about questioning Bobby about his notebook, saying she learnt her lesson in 3 months from starting at the 118. Buck waves off Hen's concerns and corners Bobby while he is eating dinner. Buck reveals that he has read Bobby’s notebook and wants to know why there are 46 names of the people Bobby has saved and why there is room for 148 names total. Bobby is furious that Buck read his notebook and slams Buck up against the wall, warning him to never do that again, before walking off. Hen just shakes her head at Buck.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: One of the victims of the plane crash calls 911 while the plane is going down. Knowing that the calls are recorded, he asks that he be allowed to leave a message for his pregnant wife. He does get a few sentences out, but the line cuts out when the plane hits the water. The man wasn't one of the survivors.
  • Locked in a Room: A couple that attempted to join the Mile-High Club, get trapped in the bathroom when the plane crashes.
  • Mama Bear: Athena is quick to track down the address of Laila Creedy, the girl who bullied May into attempting suicide. And while her husband Michael is understanding, he still thinks that she's going about it the wrong way. Athena ignores this and crashes Laila's house party, confronting her for what she did and ultimately arresting her for drug possession.
    Michael: (over the phone) What are you even doing there, Athena? This will not convince Social Services to let May come home! You're out of your mind!
    Athena: No, I'm a police officer doing my job. You're telling me you don't wanna see the look on this bitch's face when I stroll in? After what she's put our daughter through? You read those messages! I failed her once, I won't do it again.
  • Mile-High Club: A couple attempt to join this just before the plane crashes.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: One of Laila's friends and May's former friend, who took part in the bullying, feels terrible when Athena mentions that May almost killed herself because of it. She even asks Athena to tell May that she's sorry.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Even though Athena's captain agrees and understands why Athena arrested the girl who was bullying her daughter, she says she can't condone an officer for using their badge to get revenge and she has Athena suspended and put on desk duty.
  • Not Afraid to Die: When it looks like Bobby is unable to save a woman, who has been pinned to her seat, he tells her that if she goes down he’ll be right there with her.
  • Off the Wagon: Bobby had been 18 months sober before slipping up after the plane crash =and going on a two day bender.
  • On Three: Hen finds a man stuck in his seat on the plane, his seatbelt has cut into and lodged itself into his stomach. Hen tells him that she's going to remove his belt on the count of three, she rips the seatbelt out at one.
  • Police Brutality: Having been told by the airport CEO that no one is allowed to exit the plane until a reason is found as to why the other plane crashed, an airport cop uses force to shove and duct tape an agitated passenger to a seat. This is all caught on camera by another passenger. Athena rips into him after seeing the video recording.
  • Race Against the Clock: Upon arriving at the downed plane, Bobby works out that the team has maybe 4 minutes to evacuate the rest of the surviving victims to the beach before the plane sinks.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After Athena arrests Laila, the girl who bullied her daughter May, for drug possession, she gives a scathing one to the girl’s parents when they threaten to sue her.
    Athena: You wanna know why your daughter's sitting in that cell? You failed. Your daughter is a nightmare because the two of you are a nightmare. Now get the hell out of my station.
  • Recovered Addict: Hen mentions that she doesn't know much about Bobby's story before he became the captain of the 118, but she does know that he's a recovering alcoholic.
  • Revenge: After she arrests their daughter, Athena is accused of this by Laila's parents.
  • Sinking Ship Scenario: The 118 must rescue the survivors of a plane that has crashed into the ocean. All while the plane takes on water and is moments away from sinking.
  • Teens Are Monsters: Laila viciously bullies May and when Athena tells her that her daughter almost killed herself because of it, Laila says that she's glad it happened and starts insulting May.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Laila. She flat out says that she's glad that May almost killed herself because of her bullying to Athena, May's mother, who's also a cop, and then she's shocked when Athena arrests her.
  • Wild Teen Party: Athena crashes one being hosted by Laila.
