A Lance Corporal is revealed to be two timing.

  • Accidental Murder: Mr. Carvell believed his wife had killed Finn, and buried the body, not knowing that Finn was still alive.
  • "Blackmail" Is Such an Ugly Word: Jody Carvell insists that she was going to divorce her husband and marry Finn.
Jody: I was just waiting for...
    Gibbs: Your father to die.
Jody: When you say it like that, it sounds horrible.
    Gibbs: Oh, yeah. It is!
  • Brain Bleach: After the team learns that Finn was juggling two women, Tony can't help asking Ducky for a look at the deceased Marine's "equipment." Ducky (perhaps feeling the question was in poor taste), obliges - waiting until after Tony has had a good look before telling him that maggots and bacteria always attack the soft tissues first. Tony, fighting nausea, makes a hasty exit from Autopsy, asking:
Ducky, is there a way to psychologically un-see something?
  • Buried Alive: How Ducky realizes Finn was killed.
  • Call-Back: Gibbs and Ducky's relationship is still strained, as Ducky hasn't forgiven Gibbs for keeping the truth about Shannon and Kelly's deaths a secret from him, and Ducky not learning about them until "Hiatus."
  • The Casanova: After Finn's death, the team learns he was juggling two women, both of whom claim to be his fiancee. By the end of the episode, they learn he was juggling four.
  • Cat Fight: Between Siri and Rebecca.
  • Dead Guy on Display: In the Cold Open, Jody Carvell finds Finn's body propped up in a chair in the house she is showing. It is later revealed that her husband dug him up and put him there to implicate her in his death.
  • Desecrating the Dead: Mr. Carvell buried Finn, then dug him up again to frame his wife.
  • The Ditz: Siri, who claims that she and Finn "connected on a deep, spiritual level", and insists he can't be dead because she would know "in her heart" if he was. She doesn't believe it until Ziva takes her to view the body in Autopsy.
  • Escalating Punchline: Finn wasn't seeing just two women, he was seeing four.
  • I Have No Daughter!: Jody Carvell insists that she and Finn were in love, but she couldn't divorce her husband or her strictly Catholic (and very rich) father would have disowned her.
  • Messy Maggots: What it is implied Tony sees crawling around Finn's privy parts.
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: Gibbs admits to Shepherd that he's puzzled by the fact that Finn's fiancees knew nothing about his personal life, but felt close enough to him to loan him thousands of dollars. Shepherd coolly says that when a woman loves a man, she trusts him even if he keeps secrets from her - as witness that Gibbs never told her he'd been married four times before, and that his first wife and daughter were both violently killed.
  • Two Dun It: While Mrs. Carvell knocked out Finn, it was her husband who killed him and dug up the body.
  • Wannabe Secret Agent: LC Finn, who told at least one and probably both of his fiancees that he was a Special Ops soldier, actually failed several tests during basic training and worked as a supply clerk. His masquerade both made him seem sexier to his girlfriends, and gave him a convenient excuse for his long absences and refusal to tell them anything about his personal life.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The episode ends with Gibbs meeting Finn's fourth fiancee, and leaving ambiguous how they're going to break the news to her; the subsequent episodes don't say.
