My Superhero Academy Crisis of Infinite Reboots Will You Hold The Line

Dawn: Being the first to comment on Ash's new costume. That is a good look for you, Ash. Quite heroic.

Ash: Seriously, though. What is it with these hero outfits and spandex? At least mine's fireproof 'n' s***. But it's like when villains have spiked shoulderpads. I don't get it.

Rebecca: Spandex is traditional, harkening back to heroes of the '40s and '50s like Eagleman, Plasma Girl, and Professor Jupiter. Heck, even Phoenix Blaze wore spandex for a bit before switching to a more flame-resistant material. People like that are my inspiration, so it's only right that I continue the trend. Of course, the spiked shoulderpad look for villains is relatively much more recent, really only coming into fashion when Destructor, Scourge of Worlds tried to conquer our planet back in the '80s.

Mahvash: And some people like to show off their Heroic Build. And their trophies. The spikes really only help when you want to mount a head right next to your own face, and I would not recommend wearing them. Those things make leaning over to steal a kiss so troublesome.

Fluffy: ...huh. We have two teachers with 'kill' in their name...

Zach: Oh, I killed my dad when I was younger. So, I doubt he's going to come. Mom's...iffy. She works like, 3 jobs so if she finds time to come over, it'd be nice to see her.

Ash: SERIOUSLY #$&% YOU MANOEUVRES: BURNING ATTACK!

Jacobnote  Tell me, you've never been to Albequerque, have you? It's quite a wonderful little place. Or was at any rate. Or perhaps I'm just imagining things.

Cendrillon: Bonsoir, monsieur. Je m'appelle Cendrillon Dufresne. Such a pleasure to properly make your acquaintance. This is ma fille chéri—Jacqueline Leslie Bates... and to get it all out of the way, your nephew has my formal permission to court her. You may kiss my hand. Should be a pleasure, monsieur. To kiss the hand of someone like moi..

Dawn: In a better world, I would be locked away and left to wither and die for my part in all this, and you would not have to see me. I suppose that is the divine plan, and yet I feel doubt. Whose sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. Do as you like with me, sir.

Hawk: Hello, honey, Where did you run off to? Can't even follow a simple command like stay...
Perry: Papa? But you said you come back...
Eliza: Too stupid to tell if someone's lying either.

  • First Post: First Post
  • Short Synopsis: About a month after the werewolf fiasco, Saint Academy is right at the center of public controversy. "Teenage Death Squads" is coined by anonymous and spread through the media. The members of Class One have little time for that though, as they square off in a very chaotic game of superpowered dodgeball followed by parents' night.

Tropes

  • Abusive Parents: Class One has a number of abusive, neglectful, or sociopathic parents to a distressing degree. The 'winners' of Parents' Night though are Perry's parents given the students' reactions.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Ellie's parents backpedal pretty quickly when Zamiel confronts them.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Cendrillon gives Karl permission to court Ash, and Shirin has people sprayed before their touch her if they've been around demons and gives Mahvash precise parameters for her future marriage. To quote one PC: "Even Mahvash is embarrassed by her parents. It must be a universal rule or something."
  • Break the Cutie: Averted with Perry, who, despite her parents' efforts, recovers quickly. Dawn however...
  • Color Me Black: And then Josef was a demon. Apparently Zamiel turned him as an emergency treatment, not that Josef was happy about this or even consented to the procedure. He tried to kill Zamiel for days.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: Zamiel, ruler of a part of the Abyss, and Mikael's father appears in person.
  • Divine Intervention: Mahvash removes the Carnival King from his mask prison... into a spider plushie. The destination was the Carnival King's idea.
  • Dodgeball Is Hell: From homing balls to balls turned hellfire missiles to towering infernos to legions of pests... the Saint compared the arena to a battlefield of World War III and honestly thought the students were prepared to kill each other.
  • Fantastic Racism: This time manifesting in the Mattiuzas' disdain for demons and Ellie's parents' dismussal of Mikael as a Mutt.
  • Ironic Echo: Mahvash repeats the 'watch your mouth' warning to Killdozer after he scolds Ash then follows her example.
  • Supreme Chef: Zach's mother, Alice, apparently brought treats for all the students and is implied they're all custom made and tailored for the student.
  • The Missionary: Both of the Mattiuzas. Not that it stops them from acting ritzy and uppity.
  • The Sociopath: Ash described her (maybe) mother as 'scanning' rather than mingling with the others, and Cendrillon kept her on edge the whole night and even after.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Elric and Cendrillon are implied to have had a thing. Nothing is confirmed.
  • Upper-Class Twit: Again, the Mattiuzas act this way. Shirin won't wave with a glove even slightly scuffed and has her husband lift his hands to call in their (zombified) servant to clean it before she gives a wave. Vaumisa has the same servant provide him a chair and gourmet drinks on the spot.
  • Vicariously Ambitious: The Mattiuzas are quite interested in arranging things for Mahvash to climb the Divine Ranks, up to and including arranging marriages.
