Present Mic and Eraser Head are called by the police to interrogate Kurogiri of the League of Villains. Things become personal and complicated when they believe the villain was once an old friend from their past, one they thought to have died long ago.
Tropes
- Animation Error: In the girls locker room scenes Jiro goes from wearing her black uniform socks to being barefoot when the scene changes while Mina goes from being barefoot when the All Might doll drops to wearing purple socks when Ochako grabs it to wearing her costume boots when jumping up and down.
- Downer Ending: The heroes now have a clue to help track down Shigaraki, but Aizawa and Yamada are devastated that their old friend, Oboro Shirakumo, may be lost forever in the form of Kurogiri.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Downplayed. Aizawa and Yamada don't fight Kurogiri as he is bound in his cell. They try to have him come to his senses that he was Shirakumo. It works, if by only a few seconds.
- Insane Troll Logic: The Class 2-A students in a flashback discuss why Aizawa expelled them just to bring them back. One student believes it was a way to build character, but the rest believe it's sadism since the expulsion is on their permanent records. It is soon revealed that, with Princapal Nezu's permission, Aizawa invokes this to make his students learn the difference between sacrificing their lives and carelessly throwing them away.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Present Mic is usually aloof at best and serious at worst. Throughout this episode, however, he is completely distraught that an old friend is alive but now a villain. Eraser Head is far more emotional than usual as well.
