Arc 1: Caught in the Web
Zorian starts his third year at the Cyoria Royal Academy of Magical Arts, but at the end of the month, the city is bombarded with artillery and invaded by monsters and mages — and then time resets to the start of the month, with only himself and his classmate Zach being aware of it, and continues to reset over and over, repeating the same month. Investigation over several subjective years leads Zorian to suspect the presence of a third, enemy time traveler; he gets help from the local aranea colony to ambush the traveler, identified only by his red robe, but they fail, and Zorian barely escapes from him.
Arc 2: Outside World
Zorian flees into the countryside to escape Red Robe's notice, and develops his skills for several years, especially his innate telepathic gifts. However, Red Robe shows no sign of further activity, and Zorian eventually returns and makes contact with Zach. Together, they make contact with the Ghost Serpent, an ancient spirit, who informs them that they are in an artificial world created for the loop. Following clues left in Zorian's mind by the aranea, they locate the Sovereign Gate that allows exit back to the real world, but the Guardian of the Gate informs them that Red Robe has left and the Gate is barred.
Arc 3: Finale
Over several more years, Zorian and Zach track down the five pieces of the Gate key, allowing them to reopen the Gate. However, the Guardian will still only allow Zach, the true loop Controller, to leave. With help from temporary allies, they are able to open a dimensional passage of their own back to the real world, but the Guardian attacks them to prevent their escape, and only Zach and Zorian's souls make it out, losing the allies and resources they had gathered.
In the real world, Zorian learns that Zach is under a geas from the angels, to defeat the city invasion and stop the invaders from releasing an imprisoned primordial without telling anyone about the time loop. Zorian's presence is unwelcome, and Red Robe even more so, but the angels are willing to be lenient so long as the primordial is stopped. They face off against Red Robe and the allies he has gathered; after a hard fight, Zorian defeats Red Robe and uses mind magic to trick Zach into believing that everyone else who knew about the loop is dead or memory-wiped, which causes the geas to release him.
The epilogue shows Zorian leading a study group at the Academy, although he is now mentally eight years older than his peers and vastly more skilled, while Zach sets out to rebuild the fortune that his guardian stole from him.
