Recap / Moon MMBCS 1

Go To

The Moon MMBC is the second successful attempt at a Murder Mystery Bachelorette Challenge, run by mercurypixels. Find the table of contents here.

En route to its destination, a boat capsizes, and nine contestants and a bachelorette wake up on an entirely different island to the tropical paradise they were going towards. It has all the usual amenities - a house in the middle of nowhere, food, supplies, and a disembodied voice that's adamant about nobody leaving. Gossamer Moon opts to continue her bachelorette challenge here regardless, as instructed - but when contestants start dropping dead, she all too quickly realizes the cost.

    Deaths and Survivors (spoilers)
  1. Orient Aniseed - fire
  2. Clancy Persimmon - poisoned jellybean
  3. Chokecherry Jam Maple - watery grave in the Box of Danger
  4. Robin E Blue - electrocution
  5. Castor Erkens - crushed by a murphy bed
  6. Petals Fondant - drowned
  7. Siren Shimmer Aqua - stabbed
  8. Serene Sanguina, murderer - stabbed in self defense
  9. Plum Blackberry, winner

This MMBC provides examples of:

  • Breakout Character: Castor Erkens. Admittedly, part of this is due to being a Creator's Pet...
  • Comically Missing the Point: Clancy in the first episode.
Petals: "Take a look at the bedrooms. And then take a look at us. They match. There's one for each of us."
Clancy: "Oh, nice! We have somewhere to sleep!"
  • Dark Secret: The Incident that cost Castor their respectability; they tried hard to keep it under wraps, but ultimately Chokecherry lifted it upon her death.
  • Disposable Intern: Clancy again.
  • Someone Has to Die: Serene speculates in Episode 9 that this is why Robin chose to fix the broken radio that led to her death, despite the risks.
"I didn't know her very well but Robin seemed like the type who would want to stop something bad happening to everyone if she could help it. T-That's why I think she was coaxed into fixing it to protect the others - and you."
    • Though Serene is the murderer and thus could theoretically be lying, her psychic prowess and ability to read the intent of others infers that she's speaking the truth in this instance.
  • The Voice: The implied owner of the island and saboteur of the boat. They know all contestants and the bachelorette by name, which freaks them out initially.
  • Trope Codifier: While Chambers gave a name to the concept, and attempts at similar ideas had been made before, Moon made the MMBC relatively more mainstream in the Simblr community.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Orient Aniseed.
