Fanfic / Murder Mystery Bacheloret Challenges

Go To

Murder Mystery Bacheloret Challenges —or MMBCs for short— are a series of stories, most of them loosely interconnected, made primarily using The Sims 3 (though with The Sims 4 occasionally appearing from time to time).

Taking the already common concept of the bachelor challenge that originated in 2007, this variation of the idea combines it with murder mysteries, by having one contestant killed off each round by a murderer who has infiltrated the contestants of each project. The challenge, therefore, is for contestants to get lucky enough to avoid death and appear innocent enough to not be suspected by the voting audience.

The rules for the challenge can be found here.

This series provides examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: Seen a few times throughout the various projects, most notably in Ferox MMBC where the murderer's first few deaths were complete accidents.
  • Acquitted Too Late: Sadly, many of the fates of contestants that were accused of murder but truly innocent.
  • Anonymous Killer Narrator: Usually heard at the end of episodes, though the authors have been known to slip into this in other parts of the episodes to give the killer's point of view on something.
  • Darker and Edgier: Arguably the MMBC is this for the regular BC.
  • Depth of Field: In "Limerence", Amelia throwing the camera to a wall causes its lenses to crack and prevents its depth of field from properly adjusting. This remains like that for the rest of the episode and serves to obscure the murderer's identity.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: More than their fair share of the murderers have been this. The others have been total dicks.
  • The Butler Did It: Averted thus far. Several 'butlers' have been seen throughout the series, but each of them have been innocent. Lidon Butler's 'kill' being not counted.
  • The Corpse Stops Here: Friendly tip: never go near a corpse during an MMBC. It will end badly for you.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Common for the first victim of any given project. Oftentimes there isn't enough time or resources to give them a full story arc, so the death is more for in-story shock value than anything else.
