When Devil begins to feel insecure about his size, Lunella creates a “Tincture of Tininess” to make him small for the day. Unfortunately, it has unexpected side effects.

Tropes:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: The size changing formula the Tincture of Tininess and the Essence of Enlargement.
    • Later, when Lunella finds out that Devil drank her entire formula:
Lunella: That tip-toeing T-rex took my tincture!
  • Anger Born of Worry: Lunella makes it clear that she's mad at Devil not for taking the formula, but for putting himself at risk by drinking enough to possibly make him disappear. She gets over this anger quickly, as she needs to focus on saving Devil.
  • Based on a True Story: Droom vs. Torg, a kaiju movie, turns out to be this. Seeing as this is the Marvel Universe, it's not too far-fetched (Droom and Torg had each previously appeared in the comics).
  • Be Yourself: The lesson Devil learns after almost shrinking into nothingness. The episode's song, chosen by him, is called "Go Big" and is about being fully yourself at whatever size you happen to be.
  • Big Eater: Even when shrunken down, Devil still retains his monster-sized appetite. At the movie screening, the usher announces that they're all out of popcorn, because Devil has taken it all.
  • The Cameo: Laurence Fishburne reprises his Ant-Man and the Wasp role of Dr. Bill Foster in a pivotal scene. He also mentions Dr. Hank Pym by name.
  • Chekhov's Gag: When Casey is fangirling over the new kaiju movie, she wonders if the real Droom or Torg will be there. This may seem to the audience like a quick gag, but it turns out that Torg (and thus possibly Droom) is a real monster, and he does make an appearance (because he was mad about how the movie portrayed him).
  • Commonality Connection: Devil manages to talk Torg down from his rampage by bonding with him over both of them being misunderstood giant beasts.
  • Company Cross References: Devil's pretend lecture in class has him mention (via Speech Bubble) how Deadpool and Spider-Man are different.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This is the second episode to focus on Devil Dinosaur.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Devil and Torg both fail to realize that memorial arches are in their way before getting stuck trying to jump through them.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: The shrinking potion and some green paint allow Devil to see a Kaiju movie in a theater. Everyone just thinks he's a very dedicated cosplayer.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Lunella's shrinking potion works well so long as Devil takes the right amount. Trouble only happens when Devil steals extra so he can play in a kids' ball pit.
  • Height Angst: In this episode, Devil feels left out because he's too big to do stuff like go to the movies or play Frisbee. Lunella fixes this with a shrinking potion to make him human-sized for a day, but it soon gets out of hand. Later, Torg is revealed to be conscious of how his size makes others fear him.
  • Help, I'm Stuck!: Devil and Torg's battle comes to a crashing halt when they both get stuck on memorial arches.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: The plot of the episode sees Lunella create a shrinking potion for Devil, only for him to take more than one dose and begin to shrink too much.
  • Magic from Technology: In the comics the Tincture of Tininess was a magic potion provided by Dr. Strange. Here, it's a serum devised by Lunella herself.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Over the course of the series, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur have become known and respected superheroes to the point that scientists like Dr. Bill Foster instantly recognize her and is willing help her.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The shrunken Devil Dinosaur is able to get into the movies (as well as all around the LES) by being painted green and putting a shirt and baseball cap on. Surprisingly, this is justified in that the newest kaiju movie was out and everyone thought he was just a dedicated cosplayer.
  • Real After All: Torg is not just a monster in a movie but a real Kaiju whose fight with Droom (mentioned as actually real, although unseen) was the basis of said movie; angry at how it depicts him, he rampages through the Lower East Side in retaliation.
  • Super-Deformed: When Devil shrinks even smaller, he takes on chibi proportions, kinda like when the Beyonder shrunk him.
  • Take That!: Lunella compares the ball pit Devil wants to play in as being dirtier than the East River… and she described the East River vividly in a previous episode.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Torg is a real giant monster who has a history of being misunderstood as nothing but destructive. After seeing himself portrayed as such in a movie, he felt like what everyone said about him was right and went on a rampage. Devil manages to talk him down.
