So, shall we get on with the show?

"Mime, I am Hawk Moth. I'm giving you the power to make whatever you gesture come to life. Destroy this premiere performance! You may be a mime, but they can't silence you! However, in return, you must bring me back Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. So, shall we get on with the show?"
Hawk Moth

Marinette accidentally deletes a video from Alya's phone and tries to find a way to get it back. Meanwhile, when Fred Haprèle's stand-in tricks him into missing his next performance, he is akumatized into the Mime, who uses pantomimes as weapons.

Tropes:

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Mime can pantomime a blade capable of slicing everything, including The Eiffel Tower.
  • Are You Sure You Can Drive This Thing?: Cat Noir to Ladybug when driving the Mime's invisible car.
  • Atlas Pose: Mime when holding up the Eiffel Tower.
  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!: Ladybug charges in to save Cat Noir from the Mime after he is defeated, only for the Mime to aim his invisible sword at her, getting her to stop and back away nervously.
  • Batman Gambit: Ladybug manages to trick Mime into trapping himself under Eiffel Tower by exploiting his hatred for anything that reminded him of his performance.
  • Berserk Button: The Mime was akumatized over inexplicably getting fired from his act, so naturally he reacts destructively to ads for it — his very first action after transforming is to shred a bunch of posters. He's ultimately defeated when Ladybug smashes this button by projecting an ad onto the Eiffel Tower, tricking him into cutting down the tower and getting himself stuck under it.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Subverted. Fred's constantly late and always making excuses, but it's implied Chris has been giving him the wrong information to make him look bad.
  • Camera Abuse: While fighting against Cat Noir, one slash of the Mime's invisible sword cut the picture in half.
  • Diagonal Cut: The Mime inflicts a diagonal cut all the way through the Eiffel Tower with his power. Complete with the few seconds of delay before the top starts to slide down along the cut.
  • Easily Forgiven: Fred forgives Chris for tricking him into missing the performance, and Alya forgives Marinette for accidentally deleting her video because she backed it up onto the Ladyblog before giving it to Marinette.
  • Enemy Mime: The Mime has the powers to create anything out of thin air as if his creations were real.
  • Foreshadowing: Not even a minute after Fred is Akumatized, Gabriel calls Nathalie to inform him that he won't be able to attend an event planned for him and Adrien. Nathalie... visibly hesitates when she hopes Adrien will understand. note
  • From Bad to Worse: Marinette's attempts to fix Alya's video.
  • Getaway Driver: The Mime pulls off a Terminator move to force a car driver to drive him away from Ladybug and Cat Noir.
  • Good Luck Charm: Reason why Fred carries his daughter's picture in his hat. It doesn't do him much good today, though.
  • Held Gaze: Adrien and Ladybug catch each other's gaze and they both forget the danger for a few seconds until Marinette snaps out of it.
  • Heroic BSoD: Fred has this when he is tricked into believing he missed the bus to the performance.
  • "I Know You Are in There Somewhere" Fight: Ladybug tries this with the Mime, reasoning with him about what Mylène would think. It almost works.
  • Imagine Spot: Marinette has this when wondering what would happen if she told Alya the truth.
  • Jerkass: Chris, who tricks Fred into missing the bus so he could perform by himself.
  • Monumental Damage: The Eiffel Tower itself is cut in half. Fortunately, everything was fixed, as always.
  • Motor Mouth: Marinette slips into this, when explaining to Alya what happened to her video.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Chris, when he realizes that Fred became a villain. He openly reveals this the moment the Mime attacks.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: The Mime slashes the Eiffel Tower in half. In the process, he is forced to catch it, leaving Ladybug and Cat Noir open to take his hat away and free the akuma.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Marinette's reaction to deleting Alya's video.
    • The Mime has a silent one when realizing he just destroyed the Eiffel Tower.
    • Chris, when realizing that he caused Fred to turn into the Mime.
  • Reluctant Gift: After accidentally deleting the video, Marinette is reluctant to give the phone back to Alya, who has to pry it from her fingers.
  • The Show Must Go On: Invoked by Chris when he purposely tricks Fred into missing his performance. Hawk Moth also references the phrase when he's making his offer to Fred.
Hawk Moth: So, shall we get on with the show?
  • Silent Antagonist: The Mime does not talk at all when he's a villain. He only does as ordered by Hawk Moth when communicating with him.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Basically what Tikki thinks of Marinette transforming into Ladybug to fix the deleted video.

Mime and the posters

For Fred/the Mime, it's a poster of his mime act.

How well does it match the trope?
