Recap / Milo Murphy's Law S1E18 "School Dance"

Go To

Amanda does everything she can to make sure the school dance goes off without a hitch. Cavendish and Dakota go to the dance to attempt to prove without a doubt that Milo is another agent attempting to thwart their plans. Chad mistakes Cavendish and Dakota for vampire hunters.

Tropes:

  • Actually Not a Vampire: The jury's still out on Mr. Drako, but inverted in that Cavendish and Dakota are mistaken for vampire hunters.
  • Brick Joke: At the dance, Cavendish accidentally sends the band through a time portal. The episode ends with Dr. Block demanding to know what a middle school garage band is doing in his office.
  • Call-Back: In "Secrets and Pies," Milo, Zack and Melissa discuss starting a band. In this episode, they and Mort take over when the band is accidentally sent into the future.
  • Exact Words: Dr. Block tells Cavendish that unless he has actual evidence that Milo is a threat, he must stick to his mission. Cavendish interprets this as permission to obtain evidence of Milo being another agent.
  • Glass Slipper: Milo gets his shoe stuck in glue while fixing the decorations. Amanda finds it once the lights come back, and then searches for the person missing a shoe.
  • Hollywood Darkness: It's clear that nobody except those with night-vision goggles are supposed to be able to see after the power goes out, but it's kind of hard to believe when the room only looks slightly dim to the audience.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong:
Amanda: I guess everything that can go wrong, already has. (the table behind her breaks) I stand corrected.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Dr. Block address Cavendish and Dakota as "Cooperdink and Hampshire".
  • Ship Tease: Full of it between Amanda and Milo. Particularly at the end, where she seems to actually return his crush.
  • Stereo Fibbing: Dakota and Cavendish are asked if they're teachers or parents. They end up claiming they're "Teacher's parents".
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: When they come into the dance still carrying a bag of wooden stakes, Dakota comments that it's "not even the kind of party where that would be appropriate." When Chad tells Melissa and Zack about them, Melissa comments that she didn't think it was that kind of party.
