As Jason tries to break the high school bench press record, Rita decides to separate the Red Ranger from his team so he'll be easier to kill.
Tropes
- Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole: In Zyuranger, Billy and Trini's equivalents Dan and Boi were already dispached by Dora Sphinx. The episode gives no such explanation for why they don't join the others in the battle.
- Badass Normal: Despite being an obnoxious bully, you have to give Bulk some credit for being the one who lifted 1,009 times on the bench press.
- Behemoth Battle: Dino Megazord vs. King Sphinx and Goldar.
- Big "YES!": Rita screams this to Finster when he asked if King Sphinx would be the perfect monster to use.
- Bubblegum Popping: Kimberly's blowing some gum while Jason's attempting to break the record, distracting Ernie and the spectators. Cue Zack riding in on a skateboard and colliding with her, getting it all over their faces. Kim is understandably grossed out, though there are no hard feelings after they apologize.
- Early-Installment Weirdness:
- This is the only time the Megazord reverts to Tank Mode and back during a battle (and it's for something as simple as dodging a sword swipe).
- Those crystals that the Rangers use as joysticks in the Dino Zords' cockpits? They are known as the Power Crystals, and when one of the Rangers is separated from the team - as Jason is in this episode - the Power Crystals can be used to instantly reunite them, no matter where that Ranger is. This function is never brought up again (despite countless episodes involving Rangers being separated from the team in some fashion) and the Power Crystals go back to being joysticks for the rest of the season.
- Not only did Zordon and Alpha not contact Billy and Trini to help fight King Sphinx (Zack and Kimberly had to inform them later), but they apparently stopped monitoring the fight and had no idea that Zack and Kimberly had been teleported away and demorphed, or that Jason was currently facing two giant monsters on his own.
- Forgot About His Powers: Jason is cornered by a giant sized King Sphinx and Goldar without the others to help him. Despite this, he just spends a great deal of time trying to run from them instead of calling his Dino Zord or - as the fight is taking place in a quarry in the middle of nowhere and there is no magical force keeping Jason trapped in the quarry - just teleporting back to the Command Center.

- Rage Breaking Point: A minor example: When King Sphinx teleports Kimberly out of the fight, Zack (who somehow didn't notice the monster) demands to know where she is. When Squatt and Baboo taunt him with "We're not telling!" Zack leaps up and punches Squatt in the face, sending him tumbling into Baboo.
