Recap / Mickey Mouse S 5 E 3 House Painters

Go To

"House Painters" is the 3rd episode of Season 5 of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 81st in the series.

Mickey, Donald and Goofy disagree with how they should give Minnie's house a new paint job.

Tropes:

  • Can't Take Criticism: Upon learning that Goofy made a inspirational painting of Minnie riding a unicorn while holding a powerful magic staff on the back of the house, Mickey furiously states that Goofy is supposed to paint polka dots and demanded that Goofy do so immediately. Even an annoyed Goofy lampshades this by calling Mickey this:
Goofy: (flatly to Mickey for rejecting his painting) Critic.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Donald brought "a paint sprayer. It sprays paint."
  • Eye Scream: Donald's eyes get coated in the Polka-Dot Paint when he gets sprayed in the face.
  • Oh, Crap!: Mickey, Donald and Goofy get such a moment when they realize whose house they actually painted and whose just disappeared.
  • Polka-Dot Paint: Mickey literally paints the house with polka-dot paint (in the same colors as Minnie's dress).
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The house that the trio were painting wasn't Minnie's house, but Pete's!
  • Sapient House: Not only does the house come to life, but it actually gets up from its foundation and walks away.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The house, horrified by its adorable appearance, gets up, shakes the paint off and rides away on a motorcycle.
    • Also, at the end, when they realize that they painted Pete's house instead of Minnie's house by mistake, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy quickly rush inside Minnie's house, possibly to prevent Pete from finding out what really happened.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The faces on the houses are based on those from the Disney short The Little House.
    • Goofy's mural features Minnie in Mickey's Sorcerer's Apprentice hat.
  • Traveling-Pipe Bulge: As Mickey and Donald fight over the spray painting machine, the hose gets tied in a knot and the paint builds up until the bulge is as tall as the house, at which point it explodes. The pressure of the explosion cause Goofy to roll around, spreading all of the polka dot paint all over the house.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Mickey, Donald, and Goofy hardly react to seeing Pete's house come to life.
  • Wild Take: Mickey does a couple of these, resulting in some of his most Off-Model expressions ever.
