Dethklok commemorates the release of their new album by performing off the Gulf of Danzig, but it goes awry.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Arc Welding: Part of what makes this such a Wham Episode is that this is where many of the overarching plot elements really start coming together.
- Dying Declaration of Hate: Toki to Skwisgaar in classic Does This Remind You of Anything? type fashion.
- Given Name Reveal: Offdensen hadn't been actually named up until this point, this episode being the first time it's ever said on-screen (or at least his last name anyway).
- Guns vs. Swords: The Klokateers fight Crozier's army with medieval weaponry and surprisingly come out on top.
- Last Episode, New Character: This episode introduces the Metal Masked Assassin, one of the two Big Bads of the series, in the season finale.
- Precision F-Strike: By Charles to emphasize that he means business...and not in the usual sense.Charles: That's my bread and butter you're [pinch harmonic]ing with.
- Shout-Out: Toki and Skiwsgar's "I hate you/I know" exchange is pretty reminiscent of the classic Han and Leia scene from The Empire Strikes Back
- Took a Level in Badass: Offdensen had taken a life earlier in the season yes, but that was more luring them into a restricted area so that the Klokateers could shoot them. This episode on the other hand reveals that he has actual hand-to-hand combat skills and is able to take out a man twice his size unarmed.
- Wham Episode
- Salacia isn't just a regular, mysterious jackoff; rather he has supernatural abilities and is heavily implied to be immortal.
- Cardinal Ravenwood is Killed Off for Real by Salacia, but not before claiming "The Metalocalypse has begun".
