The Illusionary Atamald

Original Airdate: October 25, 2020
Written by: Tete Inoue
Directed by: Katsuya Watanabe

Summary:

Now with Hakobu on their side, the Kiramagers start to make their way to Atamald. However, the Miracle Stone there has lost its brilliance due to Oradin's death, but not all is lost when Oradin comes to Juru in a dream. Meanwhile, Yodonna tells Galza to come with her for unknown reasons...

Tropes:

  • Boring, but Practical: What Emperor Yodon's plan for Oradin comes down to. He simply decides to play the long game by letting Oradin's power simply die off rather than taking him head on because he knows that Oradin will simply transfer his power somewhere else.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Galza does this when he witnesses Oradin's revival.
Galza: This is where he'd say "kings makes miracles come true". (turns to the camera) What kind of miracle trash is this?!
  • Brought Down to Badass: Against their doubles the team loses their ability to transform (presumably because there's only one suit per member and the doubles activate them first) putting them mostly on the run, except for Sayo who's able to hold her own using her martial arts skills (Sena's talents require her powers, while Shigeru and Tametomo need actual weapons to use theirs)
  • Chekhov's Gun: The royal's soul-transferring ability is used here when Oradin transfer his soul into the Miracle Stone, becoming Mashin Oradin in the process.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: As soon as Oradin is revived, he quickly turns the tides for the Kiramagers, easily taking down Projector Gomuryu in both Mashin form and as Grateful Phoenix.
  • He's Back!: Juru manages to rescue Oradin's soul, wherein he possesses the Miracle Stone and becomes a phoenix.
  • Mood Whiplash: The episode looks like it's about to end on a heartwarming note... until Oradin leaves the Kiramagers up to their own devices and heads off into places unknown. This leaves the team utterly bewildered at what just happened.
  • Overheating: Unfortunately, Projector Gomuryu's projector head is prone to overheating, and thus needed to retreat to cool off before he can go back into battle.
  • The Reveal: Before Oradin had a chance to transfer his soul into the Miracle Stone, Emperor Yodon encased him in stone, keeping him alive in Yodonheim long enough for his power to degrade and for his soul to simply die off.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is one to the 2008 film Where the Legend Lives (まぼろしの邪馬台国/Maboroshi no Yamataikoku).
  • Shout-Out: The shot of Oradin's body encased in stone evokes Han Solo frozen in carbonite.
  • Special Edition Title: This week's ED for the "Kiramai Music Festival" has Sayo singing her character song Kiseki wo Yumemiru?.
  • Utopia: The holy land Atamald was designed to be this by Oradin, where both Crystalians and humans can live together in harmony.
