Magnum is in danger when his reserve duty assignment turns out to be a trap set by the mysterious Ivan.
Tropes:
- Artistic Licence – Geography: The Triple Frontera is a real place between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. However, it's a tourist spot, not quite the Wretched Hive it's portrayed as in the episode. It's also not a mountainous region.
- Artistic Licence – Military: One of Magnum's medals is the Army Commendation Medal. Although a Navy man could earn this, he would not place it above the Navy Commendation Magnum also has.
- Big Damn Heroes: Higgins, Rick, T.C. and Katsumoto rescue Magnum from Ivan again, this time by travelling to the Triple Frontera to find him.
- Bloody Smile: Magnum is captured by Ivan and beaten for the location of an FBI informant. He (lying) describes how the informant was blown up earlier by a drone and flashes a bloody grin. Ivan, who was flying the drone, isn't fooled and tells The Dragon to keep going.Ivan: Wipe that smile off his face.
- Call-Back: Ivan, the Greater-Scope Villain from "Knight Lasts Forever", appears. The gang finally find out what he wanted with Magnum; he's after an FBI informant, and thinks Magnum knows where he is based on events in one of Robin's novels.
- Faux Affably Evil: Gene Curtis, the mild-mannered drone pilot, is in fact Big Bad Ivan. He's much less pleasant after his cover's blown.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: When Magnum is recaptured, Ivan has him beaten for the informant's location.
- Shout-Out: The child Katsumoto asks for help finding Magnum speaks English from watching The Dukes of Hazzard and Murder, She Wrote. This is a Shout-Out to the original series, which made Crossover episodes with those shows. Later, Katsumoto thanks the kid for his help by sending him DVDs of Walker T Exas Ranger.
