Blitz, Loona and Moxxie realizes a nasty plot happening in Pride...
Tropes that appear in this Chapter:
- Big Sister Instinct: Loona develops this towards Amaroq, holding her in her arms to comfort her and keeping her from seeing all the furs skinned from hellhounds and kitsunes. Loona ultimately decides that she and Blitz should take care of Amaroq to keep her safe from Cruella and Sonya.
- Bookends: Foxy Loxy was the first villain ever encountered in the first chapter of the Story Arc, and Blitzø fights him again before he has to go help put some new holes in Sonya's body.
- Brain Bleach: Loona is sickened by the mess the guests left in their rooms after the bachelor auction. When Moxxie asks Loona to meet with him, Margaret lets her go for the day so she can forget what she had seen.
- Call-Back: As Whiskers explains his past life, he mentions how he was part of a drug trafficking operation, how he had sold them out and was beaten up by his former co-workers, and how Sonya vivisected him alive.
- Continuity Nod:
- The hooded hellhound recounts how Amaroq became suspicious of the shelter and disappeared while investigating.
- Moxxie is still mad at DJ for stealing his wallet.
- Destroy the Evidence: Refusing to let Sonya send the furs she gathered so far to Cruella, Blitz tells everyone to burn all the vans containing them so Sonya can't send any product.
- Double-Meaning Title: The title not only highlights how Blitz and Loona take in another hellhound who had been threatened by Cruella, but how father and daughter are far more similar than they think. It also shows Sonya having another one of her operations being ruined.
- Elemental Powers: The Sinner goons that act as the last obstacle before Sonya are based around the four main elements: earth, fire, water, and air.
- Given Name Reveal: Loona and Cyrus' baby sister was named Nova.
- Happily Adopted: Mick bonds with a small kitsune and decides to adopt her, naming her "Snowflake".
- History Repeats: Wanna know why it's the title of the chapter? Well;
- Sonya gets busted for participating in a front that tortures people and animals, fights them off using her Chimera form, loses and gets buried under rubble again.
- Loona makes taking care of Amaroq her responsibility so Cruella can never get her hands on her, which she compares to Blitz taking her in.
- Loona killed Nova which caused her twin Cyrus to hate her, just as Barbie came to hate Blitz for killing their mother. However, it's unclear if the former happened by accident.
- Hope Spot: As Loona seats Amaroq in the van, she finds herself being approached by Cyrus, but when she tells him she's been looking for him...he tells her to stay away from him.
- Internal Reveal: Blitz, Loona, Moxxie, Mick, and DJ's gang learn about Whiskers' past life and his beef with Sonya, whom they later meet along with Amaroq.
- Killed Off for Real: Nova's fate.
- Like Parent, Like Child: Blitz and Loona don't open up to each other about their pasts. If they did, they'd know how they each caused the death of a member of their family.
- My God, What Have I Done?: The hellhound that tips off everyone to Sonya becomes devastated after hearing from Whiskers how psychotic Sonya is, fearing that all the other hellhounds who disappeared were vivisected alive and he left Amaroq prisoner to that monster.
- No Name Given: The hellhound who gives the tip about the hellhound shelter isn't named.
- Pragmatic Villainy: The reason Cruella hasn't attacked the resort yet is because she knows that Loona has powerful friends, so she's just biding her time.
- The Reveal:
- Mick's girlfriend is a rockstar.
- Demon Realm residents that end up in Hell can still use magic.
- Cruella hasn't just been skinning hellhounds for fur, she's been running a fur farm that skins kitsunes as well, so she could make a fashion line with the furs.
- Loona had been responsible for killing her baby sister, leading to Cyrus developing a hatred towards her and her being put in a pound.
- Sequel Hook: Cruella chooses to wait before she gets back at Loona, and now Ursula has joined forces with her, Gaston, Yzma, and Gothel.
- Shout-Out:
- Blitz and Foxy Loxy fight on a water wheel, which then detaches and rolls.
- Bigz and Lenny distract the shelter employees the same way Timon and Pumbaa distracted the hyenas.
- Unexplained Recovery: Because Helluva Dad is set between Books 2 and 3 of the main series, how Dr. Facilier regained his body and powers has yet to be explained.
- The Un-Reveal:
- How come Dr. Facilier is no longer trapped in a shrunken head and how did he end up working with Ursula?
- Why did Loona kill Nova? And was it an accident or on purpose?
- Villain Team-Up: Cruella, already in league with Gaston, Yzma, and Gothel, is now allied with Ursula, courtesy of Dr. Facilier.
- Written-In Absence: Subverted. No explanation is given for why Husk wasn't with DJ's gang in this chapter.
