"I said that I wasn't gonna make another video blog... but I got really bored."
Bree, "My Helper"
Dates Posted: (2006) September 27, 28, October 1, 3, 6, 9, 11-13, 15

After their falling out, Bree redoubles her efforts to prepare for the Ceremony, and even gets help from a member of her religion. However, Daniel gets suspicious and begins his own investigation into Bree's religion.

"Who Is This?": Daniel is in his car, talking about how he misses Bree. He drives to the end of her street, apparently to wait for her to come out. But then, a mysterious blonde woman pulls into Bree's driveway and goes into her house, coming out with Bree in tow. Daniel follows them out to a random hill, where the woman appears to be leading Bree through some kind of exercise. The video ends shortly thereafter.

"My Helper": Bree talks about her new helper, Lucy. Bree says Lucy is sort of a counselor for members of her religion. Bree says Lucy is helping her understand things and prepare for the Ceremony. She ends the video by asking Daniel to stop following her.

"How My Parents Met": Bree talks about how her parents met.

"Where Are They Going?": Daniel shows up at Bree's house to talk to Bree, but Lucy is there watching the house. After over two hours, she goes to the driveway and picks up Bree. Daniel follows them to an office park, but he's not sure what they're doing there.

"Daniel Crossed The Line": Bree addresses the video to Daniel, and retells how they became friends. She says that Daniel accepted her for who she was then, and asks why he can't do the same now. She says that Lucy has helped her feel less stressed about the Ceremony, and tells Daniel off for following her.

"Order Of Denderah": Daniel talks about what little he knows about Bree's religion. He says it's a cult, and he talks about the play he shot for Bree's dad two summers ago. He does some research about the Order of Denderah and the language Bree's been learning. He finds out that the name Denderah is from an Egyptian temple, and that in the Egyptian calender, mid-October is when rites and ceremonies would be performed.

"Zodiac Of Denderah": Bree tells about the history of the Zodiac of Denderah, which plays some role in her religion. She talks about the constellations in the zodiac.

"Aleister Crowley": Daniel says he's been up all night doing research. He says he found out the Temple of Denderah mentioned in the last video was connected to the goddess Hathor, and he talks about her a little. He researches Aleister Crowley after being reminded of the photo in Bree's room, and finds that Crowley held Hathor in high regard and designed a strange ritual to honor her. The last thing he finds is a 1943 newspaper article about the disappearance of a girl in Arizona. Crowley happened to be living in the town she vanished from, and left shortly thereafter.

"The Ceremony Is Tomorrow :)": Bree tells the audience that the Ceremony is tomorrow. She talks about all the preparations she had to do to get ready, and how difficult it was. She mentions her diet and that she's been receiving weekly shots. She discusses how Lucy's been helping her out. She speculates briefly on what it might entail, then promises to make another video in a couple days.

"The Ceremony": Daniel is in his car, following Bree and Lucy to the location of the Ceremony. Daniel gets out and goes into the woods to observe Bree, Lucy, and a man in a suit and shades from a distance. Daniel goes through the woods and despite getting lost briefly, manages to follow them to the top of the hill. He watches the beginnings of the Ceremony, but there's a loud rustling in the bushes and he takes off back down the hill. He says he heard something and later shots show he's being followed by somebody. The video cuts off before he makes it back to his car.

"I Completed The Ceremony": Bree talks about how the Ceremony went. She says it made her feel really good and connected with the other members of her religion. She talks about what happened and what she had to do during the Ceremony. She finishes by saying that she won't be seeing Lucy anymore, and that she has to be more responsible and focused now that she's undergone the Ceremony.

"Following The Helper": Daniel discusses Bree's last video, and he says he doesn't believe her about the Ceremony. He follows Lucy to her apartment building and waits until she leaves. He breaks into her apartment while she's out and snoops around. He finds her computer, clicks through several maps of various locations, and finds a folder labeled with the date of the Ceremony. The folder contains several pictures of Daniel. He freaks out and quickly leaves and goes back home. He expresses a feeling of paranoia and wonders what the Order wants with him.

Tropes:

  • Alternate Aesop Interpretation: In-Universe in "How My Parents Met"; Bree's dad thought the meaning of the play was "the characters died, so nothing they did mattered", while Bree's mom said it was "don't just sit back like fate is inevitable, do something about it."
  • Blatant Lies: Bree's had a bandage on her arm in past videos, which was explained in her previous video as the result of getting shots every week in preparation for the Ceremony. She has a bandage on her arm in "I Completed The Ceremony", after supposedly completing the Ceremony, when she didn't in that previous video.
  • Call-Back:
    • In "My Helper", Bree mentions her old friend Cassie again, for the first time since "Swimming!"
    • In "Order of Denderah", Daniel references Bree mentioning the "Order of Denderah" to him back in "Learning To Drive".
    • Very subtly in "Following The Helper"; one of the locations Lucy was looking at was Wickenburg, a small town in Arizona, referencing the unnamed small town in Arizona where Aleister Crowley had a house until a girl was kidnapped.
  • Conviction by Contradiction: Downplayed. Daniel realizes in "Following The Helper" that Bree must be lying about something, because she has a fresh bandage on her arm even though there's no reason for her to get shots if she'd really completed the Ceremony.
  • Cult: Bree's religion is referred to as this for the first time in "Order Of Denderah" by Daniel.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Bree talks about her mom in "How My Parents Met" going to tell her dad what she thought the play was about:
Bree: My mom listened for a few minutes and decided that pretty much everything my dad was saying was wrong. So she thought it was time to open up a good ol’-fashioned can of whoop—(cut)
  • Don't Go in the Woods: In "The Ceremony", Daniel has to go through a very spooky-looking forest on foot and ends up getting chased by cultists after being caught spying on the Ceremony. Downplayed as he doesn't seem to suffer any lasting physical harm, but he does have a lot more reason for worry afterward.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: From "The Ceremony": The bald guy in the suit and sunglasses (most visible when Daniel sees him near the start through the trees)? That's Virgil, over 250 episodes before his next appearance in the series.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: "How My Parents Met" has Bree tell the story of how her parents met.
  • Freak Out: Daniel has one in "Following The Helper" after finding out that Lucy has pictures of him on her computer, meaning that the Order might be trying to follow him.
  • The Insomniac: In "Aleister Crowley", Daniel says he's been up all night doing research on the Temple of Denderah and associated things.
  • Meet Cute: In "How My Parents Met", Bree tells the story of her parents meeting each other by debating the meaning of a play.
  • Sci-Fi Writers Have No Sense of Scale: A very minor, mundane example: in "Aleister Crowley" Daniel says he's been up for "14 hours straight"... which is not that long of a time to be awake.
  • Shout-Out: "How My Parents Met" has one to the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which her parents were attending when they first met.
  • There Are No Coincidences: Aleister Crowley happened to be living in a small town in Arizona when a girl was kidnapped there, and he leaves the area right afterwards, which makes Daniel immediately suspicious.
  • Wham Shot: In- and out of universe in "Following The Helper", as Daniel discovers that Lucy has pictures of him on her computer.

"How the hell do they have pictures of me? Can't trust Bree. This is so messed up. What the hell do they want from me?"
