"So today, I got some really cool news from my parents. I've been chosen to participate in a ceremony."
Bree, "A Change In My Life"
Dates Posted: (2006) August 29, 31, September 3, 5, 7-10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22-24

Bree and Daniel's relationship evolves as Bree begins to take on more obligations from her religion. Unfortunately, the two begin to collide in a way that might not let both survive...

"Swimming!": Daniel takes Bree down to the river to go swimming. Daniel doesn't swim, but Bree does and puts on a swimsuit for it. She also demonstrates skeeter hunting. She asks Daniel about a girl in his class named Cassie, but he doesn't remember her.

"Bree The Cookie Monster": Bree says she got sent a lot of cookie recipes by fans after "A Peace Offering" and she decided to bake some of the them and hold a contest. She tries out and rates the cookies with help from P. Monkey and Daniel.

"A Change In My Life": Bree says that she's been selected for "The Ceremony". She says it's a big part of her religion, and equates it to a Bar Mitzvah or a Confirmation. She talks about all the preparations it entails.

"Poor Pluto": Bree talks about Pluto losing its status as a planet, and talks about her interest in astronomy.

"I Want To Take Bree to a Party!": Daniel gives his opinion on the "teasing" Bree received when they went to high school together, and talks about Bree in general.

"Should I Or Shouldn't I?": Bree says that her dad told her she can't go to Daniel's party, because of all the preparations she has to do for The Ceremony, leading her to vent about it and wonder if she should go anyway.

"I'm Going to the Party!": Bree says her and Daniel have a plan for her to sneak out of the house and go to his party. She discusses her worries about how she'll be punished if she gets caught. She ends by saying she made Daniel swear to not film her, then signs off.

"House Arrest": Bree reveals that when she got home after the party, her dad was waiting for her and grounded her for two weeks. She talks about meeting Daniel's friends, and starts to question her obedience to her parents.

"In The Park": Daniel waits for Bree to show up to a park late at night, so he can take her bowling with his friends. He complains that she's late, then when she shows up he makes her wait for a couple minutes. Bree doesn't really want to go bowling, but reluctantly agrees to. She takes some iron pills after they get in the car. Daniel asks if her dad is making her take them, but she just asks if they can get going.

"What's A Date?": Bree talks about how bowling the other night was. She says Daniel wants to know if the bowling trip was a date, but she doesn't know. She says she'll go out with Daniel again soon, but she doesn't like having to lie to her parents. She plays around with P. Monkey for a bit, then signs off.

"My First Kiss": Bree talks about kissing, then reluctantly reveals that she kissed Daniel last Saturday. She also demonstrates some kissing techniques on her stuffed bear, Thor.

"Learning To Drive": Bree says that Daniel is going to teach her how to drive. A montage of Daniel showing Bree the ropes and Bree making mistakes plays. Daniel says that Bree is mad at him again and he doesn't know why. He talks to her about it, and the video ends after she asks him to just take her home.

"The Equinox": Bree practices learning Enochian with flashcards held by her stuffed animals. Bree says she's going to be going to an equinox celebration with her parents. She talks about what's going to happen there. She apologizes to Daniel as well, because they'd made plans for that day, but she says she can't miss the Equinox celebration and asks him to understand.

"How Could You?": Daniel rants at Bree for cancelling their plans to go to the equinox instead. He says she should stand up to her parents more. He tells her to meet him in the park before the equinox.

"My Difficult Decision": A teary-eyed Bree says that she met Daniel in the park the night before, and he was still angry that she cancelled their plans. She says she apologized to him and tried to explain herself. Then he said she had to choose between him or her religion. She chose her religion, and when she got home she confessed everything she'd been doing to her parents. She says she's going to focus on preparing for the Ceremony and that she won't do any more vlogs.

Tropes:

  • Are We There Yet?: Bree does this in "Swimming!" while they drive out to the river.
  • Broke the Rating Scale: The self-proclaimed "world's best chocolate chip cookie" gets a 12 out of 10 from P. Monkey in "Bree The Cookie Monster", which Bree lampshades.
    Bree: It's only a 1-to-10 scale!
  • Call-Back: Bree comments in "Poor Pluto" that "[b]eing half the size of Antarctica just couldn't have helped" Pluto retain its planethood, referencing her saying the same "fact" in "School Work In Summer".
  • The Comically Serious: In "My First Kiss", Bree delivers her warning about the "yawn technique" with utter seriousness, despite the fact she just made out with a teddy bear as part of her demonstration.
  • Forced Transformation: At the start of "Poor Pluto", Bree says she turned Daniel into a pair of scissors. Played for Laughs, of course.
Bree: I just decided I needed scissors more than I needed someone reading a magazine on my bed.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: The content of "I Want to Take Bree to a Party!" is more-or-less explained entirely by the title.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: And mother, too. Bree's parents forbid her from going to Daniel's party in "Should I Or Shouldn't I?" on the grounds she has to focus on The Ceremony.
  • Kids Are Cruel: In "Poor Pluto", Bree describes the other kids at her old high school making fun of her for asking her favorite teacher questions about stars, to the point of eventually insinuating they had an inappropriate relationship.
  • Lethal Chef: Whoever sent the cookie recipe that supposedly came from Scotland in "Bree The Cookie Monster". Daniel is disgusted by it, and Bree doesn't even try to eat it.
  • Literal Metaphor: Bree literally makes lemonade out of lemons in "House Arrest". After drawing her dad's face on them first.
  • Lost Language: One of the preparations for the Ceremony Bree describes is "learning a language no one has spoken in like—" (the scene cuts right there, but probably "a really long time").
  • Male Gaze: Justified and downplayed. Daniel is the one operating the camera, and while he never gets at all gratuitous about it, he's clearly checking out Bree and taking some lingering shots of her at times.
  • Pluto Is Expendable: Bree laments the then-recent downgrade of Pluto to dwarf planet.
  • Rite of Passage: Bree describes The Ceremony as being one of these for members of her religion.
  • Screw Your Ultimatum!: Bree says that during her meeting with Daniel the night before, Daniel told her she had to choose between their relationship or her religion. She tells us her reaction:
Bree: There's no choice. I've been religious my whole life and I've known Daniel for two years.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Bree says that Daniel's friends at the party she snuck out for thought she was his girlfriend, an idea she clearly finds ridiculous.
  • Shout-Out: The title of "Bree The Cookie Monster" is obviously one to the Cookie Monster of Sesame Street.
  • Sleeping Dummy: Bree makes one in "I'm Going to the Party!" to try and fool her parents while she's out of the house and at the party.
  • Spoiler Title: Given Bree's general social isolation, the title of "My First Kiss" pretty much tells you what this video will be revealing.
  • Sudden Downer Ending: Most of "Poor Pluto" is goofy and/or light-hearted, but while Bree's talking about how other kids at her old school made fun of her for asking lots of questions about stars, she says she didn't care and kept asking questions, and then:
Bree: So finally they stopped calling me "Stargirl" and they stopped saying that I thought that I was smart, and instead they started saying that I was... doing something with my teacher. And that's when I stopped asking questions about stars.
  • 10-Minute Retirement: Bree says at the end of "My Difficult Decision" that she's going to stop doing videos. This lasted all of four days.
  • Whatevermancy: Bree says during "The Equinox" that her dad will perform a "bibliomancy" (a real thing) at the Equinox celebration.
  • Wiper Start: Bree tries to turn on her turn signal in "Learning To Drive", but turns on the wipers instead at one point.
  • Yawn and Reach: Demonstrated by Bree on her stuffed bear Thor at the end, with her faking a yawn and reaching her arms behind his head.

"Now... I've got to completely focus on my preparations. I don't want to let my parents down. I think that this will be my last video blog. Anyway...Bye."
