Recap / Little Princess S 2 E 15 I Want My Plaster

Go To

The Princess is up a tree, trying to get her kite down. She explains that it got stuck last week as well, and that time, she injured her leg and got a "special" plaster. Specifically, she let go of the kite, fell, cut her leg, and landed on Scruff's paw, resulting in her needing a plaster and him needing a bandage on his paw and a cone around his neck. She boasts about how "brave" she was.

The General skips past with Nessie and trips over a hurdle. His hat falls over his eyes, so he stumbles into an out of a bush, trips over a stick, and falls into a pond. He feels pain in, coincidentally, his leg, so the Princess calls the doctor. The Admiral is afraid of doctors, so the Princess tells him to be brave and to sing.

The doctor inadvertently scares the Princess and General by holding up a saw that she actually wanted to return to the Gardener. Then, she puts a plaster on his leg, and observes that the Princess's leg is itchy. She says that "an itchy leg is a better leg" and it's time to rip off the plaster, scaring the Princess, who runs away pretending to check on Scruff.

While the pets play around, Princess sits on her bed and tries to take her plaster off on her own, but it doesn't work. She denies being scared, but then the Maid wants to take it off and she refuses. The Maid points out that it's dirty, but the Princess retorts that it's only a little bit dirty. The Maid decides that they'll give it a try, and if it hurts, they'll stop. The Princess reluctantly agrees, but screams loudly in anticipation, so the Maid decides to take it off after bath time.

The Princess goes to sit by the pond and sings to herself in attempt to be brave. She explains about the plaster to the Admiral, who suggests taking it off in the dark and then giving herself a medal. The General skips up and reveals that she made him feel brave.

The trio walk into the castle and the Princess takes a bath. Luckily, the plaster falls off in the bath and the Princess's injury has healed.

The next day, the Princess tries to take her kite down again but unfortunately injures her other leg in the same way and lands on Puss. Thus, Puss also needs to wear a cone and the Princess gets another, while the General has his taken off.

This episode provides examples of

  • Afraid of Doctors: The General claims not to like going to the doctor, and it's implied to be because he's afraid of them due to him whining and the Princess telling him to be brave.
  • Agony of the Feet: Scruff gets his right front paw injured due to the Princess landing on him.
  • Amusing Injuries: While the Princess's leg cut isn't played for laughs, the General's is. He got it from tripping over a stick and falling into the pond as a result of his hat falling over his eyes.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Subverted. The doctor holds up a saw after the General hurts his leg, but that's because she wanted to return it to the Gardener.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The General is better and the kite is unstuck, but the Princess's other leg now has the same injury, and now both pets are injured.
  • Buffy Speak:
    • The Princess says that one minute she was "dingly dangly" and the next, the injury happened.
    • The Princess calls Scruff's cone a "funnel thing".
    • Upon seeing all the medals the Admiral awarded himself for being brave, the Princess comments, "That's a lot of brave!".
  • Cone of Shame: Because Scruff's paw was injured and bandaged, he has to wear a cone around his neck for most of the episode. Puss thinks this is funny and at one point throws balls into it, and at the end of the episode, he needs to wear a cone too.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: The Chef claims that Scruff's dinner will help get him "back on [his] paws".
  • "Metaphor" Is My Middle Name: The General claims that his middle name is "Brave". He then reveals that it's actually "Malcolm".
  • Mundane Made Awesome: The Princess describes her plaster as "special", even though it's pretty nondescript and doesn't even have a pattern on it.
  • Ow, My Body Part!: When the Princess gets the injury, she says, "OWW!! My leg!". The second time, she does say, "My leg", although she seems to be less in pain and more kind of "oh no, not again".
  • Prank Injuries: When Puss is jealous of Scruff for the attention he gets due to his injury, he puts his left front leg in a sling. When this doesn't get him attention, he wraps his right ear in a bandage, holds a crutch, and puts plasters all over his body.
  • Speak in Unison: At one point, the General and Admiral ask Scruff in unison if he's feeling better.
