Disney Villain Death: A heroic variant, as Cragger's parents end up falling into the Gorge of Eternal Depth as a result of the battle between the Lions and Crocodiles. Turns out to be a Disney Death as it's later revealed the two survived the fall.
Does This Remind You of Anything?: Cragger's eagerness to use Chi before he's old enough and trying to convince Laval to do so as well tends to come across as what's basically peer pressuring for drugs.
Downer Ending: By the end of the episode, Laval and Cragger's friendship is heavily strained, and King Crominus and Queen Crunket are lost to the Gorge of Eternal Depth, leaving Cragger as the new King with Crooler planning to use his new status for her own nefarious purposes.
How We Got Here: After the opening sequence, most of the episode consists of a flashback of how the conflict between the tribes of Chima started, and specifically the events that led to Laval and Cragger's falling out, which continues into the next episode.
In Medias Res: The episode begins with Eris being captured by Cragger and the Crocodiles and the Crocodiles' attack on the Lions, until Laval knocks off Cragger's mask during their battle, which is when the Whole Episode Flashback starts up.
Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Two-fold, as both Laval's innocence in trying to maintain his friendship with Cragger and Cragger's eagerness to use Chi before he was allowed to end up being the start of the main conflict of the series.
Later on in the episode, Cragger only ends up dooming his parents to fall into the Gorge of Eternal Depth as he not only refuses the Lions' help to save them, but instead tries to save them himself while also begging to get to use Chi as well.
