Go To

With Wolf, Benson and Dave in danger, Kipo must use her brain- not her brawn- to outsmart Dr. Emilia. A Mega gets a helping hand from Scarlemagne.

Tropes:

  • A Death in the Limelight: He’s technically alive, but since Yumyan is cured into a normal cat, and gets a lot of focus in this episode when helping Kipo and Lio, it still counts.
  • But Now I Must Go: After helping Kipo see what Emilia's plans are, Mulholland says that it's not safe for anyone if he's exposed to the curenote . Thus, he is forced to leave H.M.U.F.A.
  • Call-Back: Yumyan tries to attract the giant butterfly the same way Kipo did when she first met him. It doesn't work this time, leading to Yumyan, Asher, and Dahlia chasing it across the canopy.
  • Casually Powerful Giant: Every time Song moves Scarlemagne’s cage just a little bit, he is constantly tossed around inside it.
  • Cats Hate Water: Yumyan objects to having Mulholland connect a stream of his water into his ear.
  • Death of Personality: After being hit by a Cure-Dart, Yumyan is turned into a regular cat, but not before delivering some last words.
    "Yumyan owns you..." shlorp "Meow."
  • Dramatic Drop: Kipo drops the plate of pancakes she is holding when she is told that Wolf, Benson, and Dave have been captured by Emilia.
  • Evil Gloating: As part of the Kipo's Flaw Exploitation of Dr. Emilia.
  • Failure Montage: During Mulholland’s simulation, Kipo tries to save her friends without being hit by Dr. Emilia, only to fail multiple times.
  • Flaw Exploitation: Thanks to Scarlemagne and some Timbercat kids, Song tells Kipo that Dr. Emilia’s Fatal Flaw is pride and arrogance. So she must let her believe she wins, before striking her, once she lowers her guard. It works, but not without a price.
  • I Have Your Wife: How Dr. Emilia gets Kipo to come to her.
  • Internal Reveal: The group learns that Dr. Emilia got a piece of Kipo's DNA, which was the missing piece of the cure.
  • Mind Probe: Mulholland helps Kipo and friends get the details of Emilia's plans from Zane.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Wolf uses her weapon to protect Kipo from a second Cure-Dart. Unfortunately, it ends up hitting Yumyan instead. That a few episodes later we'd find Kipo was immune to the cure and thus didn't need protection, which makes this all the harder.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference of the song “Don’t You Forget About Me?”
  • Pocket Protector: Before confronting Dr. Emilia, Kipo hides a piece of wood in her shirt to protect herself from her Cure-Darts.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Yumyan tries to attract the talking butterfly this way. It doesn’t work, with hilarious results.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mulholland decides to leave and not participating to Kipo’s cause, fearing that if Dr. Emilia will manage to cure him, he would spread the cure to all Mutes, due to him being made of water bears.
  • Shapeshifting Excludes Clothing: When Yumyan succumbs to the Cure-Dart he leaves behind a pile of flannel with an ordinary-sized cat underneath.
  • Shout-Out: After Mandu squeals at Zane to shut up, Lio says "That’ll do, Mandu."
  • Show, Don't Tell: Mulholland sends Kipo, Lio and Yumyan into a water simulation, thinking it would be easy for him to explain Dr. Emilia’s plan.
  • Skyward Scream: After a series of failures in the simulation and Mulholland pointing out how they are running out of time before confronting Dr. Emilia, Kipo’s response is to scream so loudly that it jumpscares some Timbercats.
  • The Unintelligible: Because she is stuck as a Mega Monkey, Song has an hard time to communicate with everyone, since they can't understander her.
  • Wham Episode: Yumyan is shot with a Cure-Dart and undergoes a Death of Personality.
