Bill joins an all-male chorus that monopolizes his time and puts his military career at risk after he uses up all his vacation and sick leave days for rehearsals and tours. Meanwhile, Peggy and Bobby get caught up in a game of Pong.

Tropes:

  • All Take and No Give: Hank tells Bill that the Hamonaholics are this trope, as all they asked for Bill is to give while not giving anything back.
  • An Aesop: Friendship is a two way street. Be careful not to fall in with a group that expects the world from you but won't extend the same kindness as well, as they aren't friends; they're jerks who just want to use you for something.
  • Call-Back: Hank recalls the last time Bill got depressed, he and the boys had to stop him from committing suicide.
  • Cruel Mercy: After Dale keeps insulting Bill, Hank orders him to stop saying mean things to him. However, when Bill risks going A.W.O.L. after he used up his vacation and sick days to go on tour with the Harmonaholics, Hank tries to reason with him, but to no avail, which when he lifts Dale's insult ban in order to help Bill see how ridiculous the situation is (see below).
  • Friendship Moment: After Dale let it all out to the point of exhaustion at Bill and tags Hank in, Hank points out Bill sacrificed so much spending time and money with them that they don't do the same for him despite being at risk of being arrested. He says that friendship is a two-way street since he and others gave up their Cowboys tickets just so they can help Bill not go to jail and that's what real friends do. This finally got Bill back to his senses and leaves to go back to base on time for the General's haircut appointment.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Hank explains every way he could how much danger Bill risks by going AWOL. By the end, when Bill still refuses after Hank sacrifices his Cowboys game tickets to save him, Hank finally decided to have Dale deliver his blistering "The Reason You Suck" Speech, which he had been holding back the whole episode to the point of practically being ready to burst it out by the end.
  • Never My Fault: The Harmonaholics' mindset is to "Tune it out", "it" being any kind of criticism or negative comments; as a result, none of its members, let alone their leader, take responsibility for Bill nearly getting arrested. Hank calls them out on this to no avail, leading to the below.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After Hank fails to reason with Bill over the possibility of being declared A.W.O.L.:
Hank: Dang it, Bill, why won't you reason to reason? All right, Dale. Help him.
Dale: Wait. Is this a trick?
Hank: Nope. Let 'er rip. Just keep it clean.
Dale: Bill!! Bill, you have to be the stupidest man on the planet to think this is a good idea! Have you seen what you're wearing?! That outfit makes you look like a sequined train wreck! Look at you!! You're part of a twelve-headed jackass! This chorus is the feces that is produced when shame eats too much stupidity! You people make me envy the deaf and the blind! Underwear.. money...fat...! [hunches over exhausted]
  • Serious Business: The chorus treats their dedication to the group very seriously especially over work and family, Bill spends all of his time in it at the leader's behest, which almost gets him, and by proxy the whole chorus, arrested after one too many days off.
  • Shout-Out: The episode's subplot focuses on Bobby and Peggy's experience with the latter's old Pong console. The game goes on so long that they both fall asleep by the end of the episode, and the winner is never revealed.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After Bill spends to whole episode chasing attention by being a member of the Harmonaholics before returning the army base to avoid going AWOL, the general whose hair he cuts sincerely compliments his skills as a barber and states that he considers a good haircut vital to his own duties (and that Bill by extension is therefore an important part of the army).
