Hank must choose between his son and his dog when Bobby becomes so allergic to the dog that he has to live in the backyard.
Tropes:
- My God, What Have I Done?: Bobby, after seeing his parents disheartened by their attempts to fix their living situation to fix his allergy, decides to fix this by playing with Ladybird and explaining what happened. Hank is overjoyed to have both of them back.
- Only a Model: After Hank builds the scale model of Ladybird's doghouse, Dale makes a suggestion that it needs to be bigger. He retracts it after Hank points out what it's supposed to be, saying the phrase almost word for word.
- Plot Allergy: Bobby becomes allergic to Ladybird's fur, which becomes the driving point of the episode. He later keeps feigning the allergy long enough to keep living in the doghouse.
- Status Quo Is God: Played with, Bobby actually gets over the allergy midway through the episode thanks to the pills he's been taking, but decides to keep on feigning his allergy for as long as he can.
- Take a Third Option: After Ladybird refuses to go into the doghouse, instead of either selling her off or giving her away, he comes up with the idea of letting Bobby live in the house instead. Since Hank built the doghouse up to code and it has electricity and heated floor, Bobby's more than happy to move in it.
- Wild Child: The longer Bobby lives in the doghouse, the more doglike he starts to become: the first sign is dirty floors, which drives away Connie from visiting until he cleans it up, and it's not long until Bobby doesn't bother to wear anything but underwear, eats and drinks directly from the dog feeder and water bowl Hank originally set up for Ladybird, uses the brush Hank attached to the wall for Ladybird to scratch herself on to scratch his ass, chases other dogs trying to enter the doghouse away by growling and barking at them and ultimately crawls around on all fours while inside the doghouse.
